Legends of the Star – Bill Bates
Bill Bates started his career while playing as a safety for the University of Tennessee. While he was there he was named second-team All-Southeastern Conference his junior and senior seasons, and developed a reputation as the team’s hardest hitter and quickest tackler. Bill Bates was much smaller than other safeties in the league and for that reason he was not drafted in the NFL Draft. However, the Cowboys were impressed with his sheer determination and [...]

The Future Looks Bright For The Silver And Blue
This is in response to a comment to the blog I posted yesterday. I was going to post it as a comment, but thought I’d share it with a larger audience instead. Here goes… It’s OK to disagree. We all have the same goal and that is to see the Cowboys build a dynasty. Dynasties are not built on a year-to-year strategy. They are built on a strategy that employs long term success based on [...]

Draft Day Trades Have The Boys' Sitting Pretty
I’ve never been one to spend an entire day watching the NFL Draft, but I’ve been under the weather and so I found myself staying home and watching ESPN intently. Let me first say how much the draft coverage of ESPN sucks. Pick after pick they have 5 different so-called experts on their panel who continually speculate and predict who each team will take, and they are wrong 90% of the time. I mean they [...]

Cowboys Fans Have A Lot To Look Forward To
I’ve been asked by several friends how far I think the Cowboys will go this year. I honestly think we can go all the way. Of course as a Cowboys Fan I’m supposed to say that, but I truly believe it now. One reason I believe this is true, going into the draft this Saturday, we have no desperate needs. I know that all of our starters are great players and there are [...]

Legends of the Star – Don Perkins
Don Perkins attended the University of New Mexico and played running back and kick returner. He won many awards during his college career and in 1958 he led the nation in kickoff returns. Although being initially drafted by the Baltimore Colts in the 1960 NFL Draft, he was awarded to the Dallas Cowboys who had signed him to a contract before the draft. The Colts were awarded a compensation pick instead. Don immediately became the Cowboys starting [...]

Anyone Else Having Cowboy Withdrawals?
Can you believe it’s been over two months since the season ended? I can’t believe how quickly the off-season seems to be going. I guess we have Jerry Jones to thank for that. He really has made the off-season so much more interesting for us with the way he took his time searching for the best man for the job as our head coach, and all the off-season signings weren’t so bad either. I am so [...]

Legends of the Star – Lee Roy Jordan
Lee Roy Jordan began his amazing football career playing linebacker for the University of Alabama from 1960-1962. While he was there he led his team to winning seasons each year, including a perfect season that culminated in a National Championship in his sophomore year. During his senior year, he was a first team All-American and had his most memorable game in the Orange Bowl when he made 30 tackles in one game against the University [...]

Legends of the Star – Ed "Too Tall" Jones
Standing six-feet, nine-inches tall, defensive lineman Ed "Too Tall" Jones was very deserving of his nickname. However, it was his skills as a football player that Cowboys fans will remember most. In high school he played basketball and received 52 college scholarships, but he decided instead to play football for Tennessee State. It was a decision he would never regret as he led Tennessee to an almost perfect record during his 3 years with them, [...]

Crayton For Another Year
Patrick Crayton signed the $1.3 Million Tender to continue to be the Cowboys third receiver behind Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn. He played in all 16 games last season and finished his third season as a Cowboy with career high stats. Crayton completed 36 catches for 516 yards, along with 4 touchdowns in 2006. He also contributed 85 yards on 11 punt returns. With his numbers increasing every season, the Cowboys may be looking at a long-term [...]

Owens Shows Up
Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens showed up to Valley Ranch today. The team’s off-season conditioning program began last week, but Owens surely wasn’t expected to show up due to injury. His cast will be removed Wednesday and he is right on schedule to be fully recovered by July. He did some running and talking with coaches, but of course wasn’t able to do any catching. It was a smart move by T.O., who has alot of people questioning his ability [...]
