Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day

Well if you’re anything like me, you’re still walking into walls and stumbling around like one of Jack Nicholson’s friends in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, after that loss on Sunday. I gotta tell you though, I am more upset over football season ending than anything.
Honestly, for me, it’s more of a feeling of “What the heck is it that I do when football season is over”, because I never can remember life without football until a couple of months into the annual adjustment period. By the time I realize that I have adjusted, The Dallas Mavericks season will be in full swing and I will be excited again. There is no comparison between football and basketball, but I truly do love The Mavericks and have stuck by them from day 1. There’s a story behind that and a reason why I am a die hard Mavs fan, but I will spare you the details, for today at least.
Back to football and the Cowboys……I really am not broken hearted over The Cowboys season. I’m just not. When the season is going, no matter if it’s The Cowboys or my son’s baseball team, I will only allow myself positive thoughts and I only exude positivity. But if you want to know the truth, The Cowboys amazed me with every win. I believe this team we have right now is going to be another dynasty, but they are young and the coaches are new to the team and to each other, and it wasn’t time yet. We had more “W’s” in the win column than we actually deserved. We had some quirky wins that just weren’t strong enough to hold us until the end. Many teams improved over the season. The Cowboys improved and then flatlined midway through. I am proud that they made it as far as they did with the problems they had.
I am a natural born cheerleader in the spirit department. I sucked at gymnastics, so I never was one. Instead they asked me to start a pep squad because all my friends were cheerleaders and I was always yelling at them and the team and every one in the stands noticed me (imagine that huh?).  My point is, that I can remember being down 30 points midway through the 4th quarter (our team always sucked) and getting my squad and the cheerleaders to do these ridiculous cheers and keep the faith, when I knew in my sensible mind we were toast.
This Dallas Cowboys team is made of greatness, greatness that needs time to build. As the saying goes “Rome wasn’t built in a day”.
Romo is the leader, Owens has found his home and is leading with him. Garrett is going to be a mainstay and the real coach regardless of his title. Great things are coming. Maybe even as soon as this coming season. I am counting on that because I can see it. All I have to do is look back to 1990 and remember how horrible we looked in the record books, but still see the magic that was building between those teammates and with that man that I will love for the rest of my life, Jimmy Johnson.
So no folks, I am not sad or broken hearted. I am convinced and confident in my instincts, that these Dallas Cowboys are “Back in Town” and will make us all happy for many seasons to come. I feel it, I know it.

I agree BUT you have to question the desire to be a great QB when a QB goes to mexico when, I think, the most important game of the season is to be played the following week. Mexico is for AFTER the Super Bowl! Does Romo want it?

Great blog Tiffany! You make great points and I agree. They bring hope and it can only get better from here!
P.S. Romo is young and will mature, he wants to win, he wants to succeed. I do not question that one bit! The only reason anyone is, is because of the damn media!!!

I have the same gut feeling that you do Tiffany. I think our future is looking very bright. We are still building, growing, and maturing as a team. I very much look forward to next season, I think we’ll be even more aligned than we were this year. With the current staff and players that we have now, we will be a force to be reckoned with for many years to come. We’re witnessing a new Dynasty in the making and I couldn’t be more excited.
Regarding Romo…he knows what’s a stake, I have all the faith in the world in him. “In Romo I Trust”.

Great blog. What you are saying is definately true. We are a couple of pieces away atill, but no doubt we will address that this off season. People say you are guaranteed 2 things in life – death and taxes. I would like to add one 2 that- at least 48 hours of Cowboy football a year.

Great blog Tiffany, and You are so right once again, We have the makings of a Dynasty going on here We have Superstars on both sides of the ball are that are very Young and are only going to grow from here, with all the coaching changes at the begining of the Year and a few injuries that we have had if some one would have told Me that we would be 13-3 and top in the NFC I would have taken that as a good sign of great things to come and that is exactly what happened We got a good sign of great things to come!
We have one of the best Quarterbacks in the league !
We have a runningback that runs like his life depends on every yard he can get!
We have the best Tight End in the league today !
    Our O-Line is awesome!
and Our Defense will cause Quarterbacks to lose sleep!
our future is very bright, in 2008 We Dominate!

Lemme tell you guys, I *so* didn’t want to go into work on Monday. I nearly called in sick. Last year I had a coworker (big supporter of one of our big rivals) who immediately made the rude gestures of dropping the ball. I told her to do the world a favor and play in traffic. This year she waited til wednesday to ask if she could “gloat.” I had to remind her that she had nothing to gloat about….her team went 5-11. She didn’t say a word after that.
After the game, I hugged my TonyRomo bear (yes I love the place where you make your own bear….I went on TR’s birthday just to do it) and washed my jersey. The next game I’m interested in is Pro Bowl. I doubt I watch anything else.
But I’m not disgusted this year. We had a fantastic season, and I’m looking forward to the next one. The ‘Boys are clicking and they’ve gotten themselves into a nice groove. They can ONLY get better. They will, you know it, and I know it.
On a side note, I got tix to see the Desperados play the Sabercats out here in the Bay Area. I know it’s not the NFL, but it will take me to June, so that leaves me a whole month of OMG wtf do I do until the season starts.
The guy who was selling the tix from the SJSabercats was kind enough to respect my wishes about being seated behind the Dallas bench. I told him I was a Cowboys fan, and that’s all he needed to know 🙂

Great article! I agree with you. Garrett staying me have the same feeling we have in 1990. With this team I see the same things coming together. It makes me tingle all over lol! that is a good thing.

I love the positive outlook and agree so much. They cowboys allowed us to enjoy 13 wins and only 4 losses. We have a great team!!!!!!!! Just dont look in the papers or on the radio to hear that. If they had the’re way, everyone would be fired and the whole team would be cut.

GREAT JOB Tiffany! I feel the same way. Think about this…Now days so many teams want to rush there new QBs into the game. If we would have done the same thing do you think that Romo would be as good as he is today? I dont. Im thankfull for the guy we have now. And he will only get better. By the way,Thanks for telling me about this site!! I LOVE IT!! Thanks!
