Time To Piss Off The Californians

I know this next statement is going to make many people angry with me but it’s been bugging me for awhile now.

The Dallas Cowboys Training Camp should always be held in Texas. Period.

It’s true that the Dallas Cowboys are America’s Team. Just look at the Hard Knocks ratings. They were through the roof. It was one of the highest rated TV shows HBO has had in a while. Yet, what bothered me the most when watching Hard Knocks was that the Cowboys were in sunny California instead of the confines of the Alamodome in San Antonio. I know that it’s the City of San Antonio’s fault that the Cowboys are not there as well this year so I really shouldn’t be whining but it bothers me a whole bunch that I was not able to travel to San Antonio this year to see the Boys in Training Camp.

Believe me when I say this as well, I wrote the Alamodome director, scheduler, San Antonio mayor and city councilmen on the dissapointment and lost revenue the City of San Antonio lost due to scheduling a church convention at the Alamodome during the proposed Cowboys Training Camp this year which cause Jerry Jones to move Training Camp to Oxnard. I was pissed and still am about that. The Dallas Cowboys belong in Texas. Not in sunny and shaky California. You all in California already have 3 NFL franchises to go look at all you want. Now, we rented you a 4th? Shame on you California for being greedy.

How about this Cali? We will send you Mickey Spagnola, dallascowboys.com beat writer, and a bucket of hot wings from Wing Stop for the next 20 years and you will let us keep the Cowboys where they belong? In Texas. Speaking of Micky Spagnola, I wrote him a nice little email on how I felt about his article on why the Cowboys should call Oxnard home forever during Training Camp. I don’t think he is going to be happy or laugh about it. I will just leave it at that. Sorry if you guys outside of the State of Texas don’t agree with me but many Texans do. MANY! Peace ’til next time!

I will say this, though it seems like they should stay in Texas seems right. Why should the team known as Americas team not be seen by all of America. I am in NC and i could give a damn less about the Panthers. I am a Cowboys fan and i would love to see them come to NC. Wont happen but, would be nice.

As a fellow Texan, I might tend to agree with you save one thing. It’s too damn hot in Texas in July and August. I honestly doubt I would go to San Antonio and hang outside for that reason. I can’t even imagine banging around in pads and football gear in this heat. I bet the players wish they were in Cali every summer.

I will have to agree with you. Dallas Cowboys are “OUR” team from TEXAS! If it is too hot then bring the “BOYS” inside! Practice early morning or late in the evening. There is other place besides San Antonio! Keep revenue in TEXAS. Keep our BOYS in TEXAS! YES….we will share but not at training time! But it is fun to see how popular OUR TEXAS BOYS ARE! Nothing new to us. At least come home to TEXAS for the last week of training!

I am from Oklahoma and I think they should train in Texas mainly because of the weather. I know what our heat has been it was 106 last week but, it will toughen up the boys where in the 4th qt. their asses aren’t draggin. Seems like the years they trained in Texas they shined in the 4th QT. Plus it is closer for me to come to. lol

As one of those californias i love seeing AMERICAS team here.Players and coaches have all said its great to get the team out of that texas heat and why not practice where the weather is just perfect for the players.I understand that the cowboys are from texas but when its all said and done fans just want the team 100% for the season and i know practicing here could help. With it only being training camp i believe its best for the players and fans outside of texas. We are very lucky to have them here but texas gets to see the team kick @ss week in and week out.We all know cowboys are from texas and that will never change but i loved reading on the website last night that jerry jones is wanting to come back soon and have a split training camp with half of it here and the other half of it back in Texas. As far as those other 3 teams we have in california i wish they would all just leave!!

  6. Cowboys camp site

I really don’t have a big problem with the camp being in Oxnard or Texas. At one time the team was going to Thousand Oaks, Ca for camp and I still continued to be a huge fan and supporter. Hell the baseball teams have always trained in Florida and Arizona. I think it has some to do with the slight distraction factor. Yes the boys are America’s team and going to draw fans and attention if they trained 2 weeks on the moon. I know that is an out there statement, but you get my point. If the team trained in Texas their would be thousands or 10 thousands at camp each day where there still is fans that show up in Oxnard too, but just not to the extent of a Texas site. It is only 2 weeks and we have hard knocks, so lets just try and get over it. Not to mention with the exceptions of the quake the weather is much more pleasant in Cali this time of year. Now is it better than the Alamodome weather well NO…but I think you get my point. Saturday they are Denver and I will leaving on Friday for a trip to Mile High or Invesco or Nabisco or whatever they call their house these days. GO BOYS I know you will be home soon!!

Umm, lemme tell ya what. I’m a native Texan, Cowboy fan til I die….but I never got to go to Training Camp until we were stationed out here in California. I live within an hour of 2 of those NFL football teams you talk about. Do you think their fans show up like ours do? Hell no! I had a coworker who totally tripped out because I drove down 6+ hours to camp…when her team practices right around the corner. She didn’t even think about it….I don’t see what the big deal is on where we train. Our fans come out from everywhere. We could practice in Arizona and I promise you the turnout would be just as huge.
Last day of camp was great. There were fans EVERYWHERE. The entire town embraced the Cowboys. They were happy to have us. The people are friendly and they’re glad to be associated with the team. I understand that you’re upset that you couldn’t drive out with the team to watch, but do you know how hard it is for those of us who can’t be there when it’s in San Antonio? You don’t see us complaining about it.

I would love to watch my favorite team practice! I am in North Carolina now, so hard for me to just take off and watch them.
Cowboys fans are all over the USA. I see no problem for some of the California fans get a chance to watch them practice.
If they come out here, I would love it!! It’s not like they moved from Texas to California permanently!
If you live in Texas, at least you are close by and have a better chance watching a regular season week in and week out.

THE HELL IF I AGREE W/THIS NASTY BLOG. I’M A TEXAN(LUCKILY) AND I’M GLAD THAT THE TRAINING CAMP IS IN OXNARD WHY? WE DO HAVE FANS EVERYWHERE!!!! AND IF THAT MANY ARE COWBOYS FANS AND NOT FANS OF THE OTHER 3 TEAMS WHO ARE YOU TO SAY THEY SHOULD GO CHEER FOR THE OTHER 3 TEAMS? HOW MANY GAMES CAN THE COWBOYS FANS LIVING OUTSIDE OF TEXAS ATTEND? SO IF THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THEY GET TO SEE THE COWBOYS MORE POWER TO THEM!!!!
    DALLAS COWBOYS IS AMERICA’S TEAM!
    THAT’S A PRICE WE PAY
