The Prophet Strahan Picks Cowboys To Win It All

The opening day of the NFL season was exciting for some fans and excruciating for others.  For us Cowboy fans, we watched the Cowboys take some “hard knocks” in the dog pound with MBIII’s bruised ribs and Tony taking it on the chin, but overall our Boys looked superb (I won’t discuss the penalties here, but Wade, get on their “arse” about that…).  Jets fans were, no doubt, excited to see Favre in that green and white uniform, and he didn’t disappoint.  Poor Patriots fans who haven’t yet recovered from the greatest underachievement in history, have now had to face the fact that Tom Brady is out for the season and the fantasies of the Brady Bunch earning another Superbowl title has now been all but erased from the list of possibilities.

The thing I found most interesting about Sunday was that Michael Strahan, former defensive end of the Giants, predicted the Cowboys to win it all.  Strahan said, “I have to be realistic and I have to be objective here, the Dallas Cowboys are the best team in the league.”

Most of Strahan’s former teammates stated that Strahan was just trying to motivate the Giants since they are considered a longshot to repeat as Superbowl Champions.

Do you think Strahan was trying to motivate his former teammates? I don’t. I think Strahan, who I admit was awesome at his position, decided to retire at the end of last season because he realized Santa Claus had given the Giants a present that was far and above what could be expected. Strahan realized that hoisting the Lombardi was a fluke that could not be repeated during his career and decided to “get out while the gettin was good.” You can’t motivate mediocrity. Strahan was just being a realist, and the reality is that the Cowboys, barring serious injuries, are the best there is.

Strahan is not trying to motivate the Giants.  His new job as an analyst depends on him being knowledgeable of the game and accurate in his analysis of teams in the league. He didn’t say that the Cowboys were the best team in the league to motivate the Giants. He said it because the Cowboys are the best team in the league.

In the Old Testament, God often called prophets to prophesy against their own people and let them know that judgment is on the way.   You may not agree with me, but I believe Strahan is a “prophet” who is simply acting on his calling to let the Giants know that judgment is coming – it’s coming from Texas, God’s Chosen Team is about to reclaim their place as Superbowl Champions.

The Lombardi is coming home to America’s Team.  I assure you it is not going to stay in the “Meadowlands of Mediocrity.” God bless Michael Strahan for having the “prophetic courage” to speak the truth and God bless the Cowboys.

  1. wow dude you need to calm down with this prophet stuff. It’s just a game man. I will not call the Cowboys a Super Bowl team until they reach it there. They haven’t won a game in the postseason in years. All this Super Bowl non sense is premature and un-called for. Let the season progress. First, the Cowboys have to make the postseason. Second, they have to win 2 or 3 postseason games. Third they have to make it to the Super Bowl. And finally they have to win it. It’s a lot of pressure on the team and I hate it when anyone, fan or “analyst”, says the Cowboys will win it all. Let’s take this season ONE game at a time

    Gosh Danny,
This was a somewhat “tongue in cheek” piece which is meant to exaggerate things for effect. I don’t think Strahan is a prophet, but neither do I think it is uncalled for to comment on his predictions once he makes them. I think most of the fans here who have read my writing in the past know that I am pretty down to earth in my predictions about the Cowboys. However, I don’t think it is out of line to indulge in a moment or two of “blissful ranting” about my favorite team. I am terribly sorry you thought it was “non sense.” My aim is to keep Cowboy fans united, not bashing each other on a personal basis about our writing or our views on the team. Once again, the piece was meant to be somewhat humorous. I am sorry you misunderstood.

I don’t understand Dannys’ thinking. Strahan may not be a “prophet” but he does know what he’s talking about. I saw the future last Sunday as well and it looked mighty bleek for the rest of the NFC. I may be a bit one-sided but I know a GREAT team when I see one. I still have some reservations about the Super Bowl, but right now we look very good.

I don’t even want to begin to try and figure out if this danny dude is even a Dallas fan… LOL
I enjoy reading the blogs, ALL THE BLOGS and this Prophet Strahan one put a smile on my face, I mean he has played our team on more than one occasion and has to know what teams are better than others, but OBVIOUSLY people take things how they take them..
I, for one, have faith in my team and beginning of the season or not, of course I WANT THEM TO GO TO THE SUPER BOWL, but its almost as if this danny dude doesn’t even have faith in the Cowboys, he actually pissed me off!!
And all that led me to say, LET US COWBOY FANS ENJOY OUR BLOGS, WHETHER THEY BE TONGUE IN CHEEK OR NOT… GET A GRIP… SHEESH!!

  6. Yeah i misread it. My bad. Don’t doubt that I am not a fan. I have been my whole life. But I don’t have to prove it to anyone.

  7. Hey Danny,
I don’t doubt for a minute that you are a fan of the team. And I want to be sure that any Cowboys fan knows that they are a friend of mine. I just wanted you to understand my thinking in writing this piece. I agree with you that the Cowboys need to take this one game at a time and not look too far ahead. It’s a long season and too much can happen between now and then. I do think the Boys are the best team out there right now, but that can certainly change with an injury or any set of unfortunate circumstances. In no way do I want to jinx the Cowboys by making outlandish predictions. I just thought it was interesting that Strahan, as a former Giant, would admit that he thinks the Boys are the best. I just took the prophet idea and ran with it for fun. Personally, I don’t think God plays favorites with football. He has more important things to deal with. So, Danny if you ever want to drop me a line or add me to your list of friends, please understand that I don’t doubt your loyalty to the Cowboys, and I would love to count you as one of my buddies on myspace. You and I might not always agree but that’s cool with me because we both want the same thing – and that’s to see the Cowboys continue their winning tradition. That’s all the agreement we need as far as I am concerned. If you ever want to add me, my page is http://www.myspace.com/dallas_cowboys_nfl. Thanks for your input Danny, and GO COWBOYS!!!
