Quarterback Controversy? What Quarterback Controversy?

I heard a good joke today while driving to work, apparently the word on sports radio is that the Cowboys have a quarterback controversy… Are they kidding me or what?

I don’t see a controversy at all… What I see is A NO-BRAINER.

It’s time to get Brad Johnson out, and if Tony Romo needs more time to nurse that poor little pinky injury, then start Brooks Bollinger.

The 122-yard performance that Brad Johnson delivered against the Bucs was a total embarrasment… Every time Brad Johnson is in the game, it’s a total embarrassment.

ESPN had this to say about Johnson’s performance…

In the two games with Johnson starting for Romo, none of the Cowboys’ top three wide receivers or tight end Jason Witten has a reception for 20 or more yards. With Johnson in the lineup, Terrell Owens has just seven catches for 64 yards, Patrick Crayton four for 43 and newly acquired Roy Williams two for 10 yards. Witten has seven receptions for 52 yards. Williams is the only player among those mentioned with a touchdown catch.

The reality of the situation is that Sunday’s starting quarterback will be Brad Johnson once again… At least that’s what Wade Phillips said.

When asked if Brad Johnson would start against the Giants, Phillips said, “We’ll see. I would expect that. I don’t know why it would change.”

Asked why he wouldn’t just say Johnson was the starter, Phillips said: “OK, he’s going to start.”

It’s too bad football teams weren’t run by leaders who had to do the will of the people… Just like in our government… Nevermind… They don’t do our will either. We are all doomed…

I don’t see why Bollinger wasn’t the starter already. I was telling my bud that if we had longer than 3rd and 6 we should just punt and save time.

I’m with ya on this Joe! How many times during the game last week was it 3rd an 15 or more and a dump off to barber for 2 to 5 yard pick up? Come on!! he should of been taking outta of the game then!! other teams D can read him so well!! Watch his eyes! His Eyes tell exactly where he is going!! so predictable!! he is Worthless in my eyes!! Yeah yeah yeah! I know he manged the game to get a win! so what!! I could of done what he did!! give me his money and I’ll throw 5-10 yard passes all day!! From what the media is saying about the match up with the Gnats, we could blow this game and still take control of the East after the bye! They can’t see what I can see! Sorry thats it for now!! Tune in tomorrow for the rest of my throw down on this W. Go Cowboys!! Great Post Joe!! As Always!!

Do we really want Bollinger in this week?
Yes he is more mobile but in terms of consistant decision making do we really want Bollinger in the game against the same defense that just made Ben Roethlisberger look very very average?
I personally want a veteran in against this pass rush that Dallas will face this weekend. Brad isnt mobile but at the same time i can guarentee he will not have another game like the one against the Rams. Can we say Bollinger is capable of performing under the intense rush of NY?
This game is very important for a number of reasons
1, to really judge the amount our team has really grown up
    2. It is a division game in which we are facing the 1st place team and defending champions
    3. we win and Washington loses against Pittsburgh Monday night we are in a tie for 2nd place going into the bye week heading into Washngton while getting our general back along with Felix Jones

    Byron,
Are you saying, 3 times it seems :), that Johnson should start because he beat the Giants 2 years ago or because Bollinger has never started against the Giants? Or Both?
The reason I’m just asking is because neither makes one bit of a difference this year. Bollinger has been a starting QB in the past and the game Johnson won was 2 YEARS AGO.
We need to start the person who can get the ball up and down the field……this year.
If Romo doesn’t start, and I say “if”, I suspect that Johnson will start but will be on a very, very short string. It may not take a full quarter to see Bollinger, “IF” Romo doesn’t play. ;)

I think Bollinger should start,he may actually be much better than we think, but we will never know unless we give him a chance. I agree but BJ is to stiff and imobile in the pocket and he panics too much, and that causes him to be very inconsistent! well I’m sure we can all agree that we just want what is best for our TEAM, as well as hoping that they beat the crap out of the Giants! I really hate them, but more so I hate the Redskins, so I hope that Romo is back by then and ready to play better than he has played in a long time, I don’t mean to go back to old issues, but Romo needs to concentrate more on his game than on Ms.Simpson, because is it me but ever since she has been in the Picture he is not at the top of his game, I now that he has great potential, and has the ability to be one of the best QB’s of all time!! All I know is that I love my Cowboys team too much to see there season go down the drain…..
    “Peace” from Cali!
