Can you imagine living the life of a football star? How about a football star who plays for the Dallas Cowboys? That would be like living a dream. Getting paid millions of dollars to play the game you love for the best team in the nation, yeah I would say that is definitely living the dream.
However, with the good comes the bad. Tabloid reporters, paparazzi stalkers and obsessed fans, oh my!
Honestly I could care less who Tony Romo is dating. I don’t care if Miles Austin was seen on a yacht with a famous reality star. Some call it a jinx, and now some are saying maybe a good luck charm. If they do their job and stay focused, does it really matter?
On the other hand, there are some things you just don’t do in public when you are a professional football player.
Our class clown, if you will, Martellus Bennett has made a horrible fool out of himself once again. In a video that has since been removed, Bennett dressed in a long beard at a tattoo parlor on Independence Day impersonates terrorist Osama Bin Laden.
“Y’all been looking for me? I’m making bombs!”
It’s not funny, and definitely offends me as an American especially on the day we celebrate our freedom. While thousands of men and women fight for us overseas, Mr. football player thinks its funny to disrespect them on a day he should be honoring the very thing they are fighting for.
I believe when players are given the honor calling themselves Dallas Cowboys they need to realize they represent something bigger than their oversized egos. Just like what Jerry Jones told Terrell Owens before releasing him, this is about something bigger than both of us, this is about the team.
How about you start thinking before you embarrass the organization? You are not a racy comedian who makes money by causing controversy, you are a professional football player. I think its time you start acting like one.
