Amukamara Visits Valley Ranch, Will He Be The Cowboys To Pick?

Prince Amukamara Western Kentucky v Nebraska

Less than two weeks until the biggest day of the Cowboys offseason, the NFL Draft. One potential candidate whose name keeps coming up in mock draft after mock draft, is Prince Amukamara.

Coincidentally, the talented cornerback out of Nebraska was a guest of the Cowboys yesterday at Happy Valley. He was one of a bunch of players who visited with the team as they get a first hand look at some of the players they may consider selecting in the upcoming draft. However, only Amukamara’s name has figured prominently in what the Cowboys may be looking for with the ninth overall pick.

Currently, the Cowboys go into a new season with the same old cast that features Terence Newman who misses too much time with all sorts of injuries, Mike Jenkins who had a rough season after a breakout in 2009, and the always inconsistent and maddening Orlando Scandrick.

Amukamara is considered to be the best or second-best corner prospect in the draft depending on who you ask, and he would certainly eclipse any of the current Cowboys in terms of explosiveness, if given the chance to wear the blue and silver. He may even slot in better as a safety which would give the team more flexibility in how to best utilize his great talents.

It won’t be long until we find out who we do get, I’m just hoping the focus will be on the secondary, and if it ends up being Amukamara, I’ll be very happy.

I’m no expert, but I don’t seem them selecting him with the 9th pick. I see them going Offensive Line or trading down. I guess we shall see. That’s what makes all this predicting and mocks drafts so much fun. I think if JJ can save a few bucks by dropping down a few spots he will do it.

agreed rob. i think they are just doing their homework with prince. i fully expect one of two things to happen: 1) field trade offers for pick #9 2)if none are good enough, draft Tyron Smith. In the past this team has been horrible at disguising their intentions for draft day. i dont think this year will be any different.

What if they trade their 9th pick to NE for their 17th? They would then get a better value pick if it’s going to be a OL and maybe get NE’s 35th pick and Dallas could have three of the top 40 picks. OL, DL, & maybe a QB if Dalton is available.
