New Design, New Purpose…

As Coach Garrett would say, “It’s been a helluva year.”  There can’t be more truth to this.  Kelly and I took our son this past summer to Disney World.  It was an amazing trip.  Then, in October, we went to Las Vegas and made it official:  Kelly and I got married.

Went to Disney World, Went to Las Vegas, Got Married…You know, the usual.

This year wasn’t just great for those things, I mean, HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS, right?!  We’re going into the playoffs.  Records are being broken.  We really have a new set of triplets.

New Triplets

New Triplets

It really has been a banner year for our Boys and Lone Star Struck as well.  We’ve kept up with our Facebook fans (which really has been the meat and potatoes) of all that Lone Star Struck is the most; however, with many of the writers that used to blog for us no longer with us, the website hasn’t really been high in our priorities.  As a result, it was neglected, for the most part.

With the Cowboys surprising everyone (even the haters, though they hate to admit it), it inspired us to take a second look at  We wanted to give it a new look and a new purpose.

Haters gonna hate...

Haters gonna hate…

We wanted to make the site more design-centric and put Kelly’s artwork in the forefront, while still giving a nod to Lone Star Struck’s yesteryear and featuring the writings of all of the people that have etched their thoughts into our history.

This is why, on the homepage, you’re greeted with a wall of art.  Keep scrolling and you will find a countdown to the next game, tidbits of new stuff from the gallery, and a section to read new articles when we blog.  The homepage will change periodically, so make sure you check back.

Look at all the pretty pictures!

From the technical standpoint, our website is fully responsive and looks good on all screen sizes.  You can easily share fresh LSS graphics on the go from your phone or tablet.

We won’t tell anyone if you are browsing LSS at work.

We’ve also switched to new hosting.  Lone Star Struck should be snappier.

Lone Star Struck looks good on all devices

While our new look is design-centric, we don’t want to leave the blog behind.  We are looking for more writers to share their thoughts about the Dallas Cowboys.

If you’re interested in writing for us, you should check out the link below.

No doubt, it’s been a helluva year.  We’re hitting the ground running into the New Year and 2015 will be just as awesome.  We hope you will be a part of it with us.

Have a Happy New Year!  Be safe!

Happy New Year 2015

Breaking Records and Taking Names

What a season it’s been! There’s no way the Dallas Cowboys are 12-4 without every member on the 2014 team. Their accomplishments were definitely a team effort. Along the way these 4 players made stand out achievements and broke franchise and league records.

Dez Bryant

Bryant broke the single-season touchdown reception record with 16. (Surpassing Terrell Owens – 15)

Demarco Murray

Murray broke Emmitt Smith’s single-season rushing record. Also, he led the NFL in rushing yards. (Notably, Murray also surpassed 100 yards on the ground in 12-of-16 contests.)

Tony Romo

Romo passed Troy Aikman to become the Cowboys as the all-time leading passer in franchise history.

Dan Bailey

Bailey became the most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history, and also holds the NFL’s title of best field goal percentage.

While these four leaders of the team are humble about their milestones, they continue to focus on the post-season. I guess that’s what makes them so outstanding!

Congratulations #88, #29, #9 & #5! We know you aren’t finished yet!

Introducing the Graphics Gallery

If you’ve been following Lone Star Struck you already know we love to make graphics and share them on the web, if you are new to the site we welcome you to our “fanatical place”. As a graphic designer who is also very passionate about the Cowboys, it makes me so happy to share my artwork with other fans.

Responsive isn’t just about responding

I don’t just mean making sure that we respond to comments or awesome Dallas Cowboys events with even awesomer (like that?) graphics.  Responsive web design means that our site changes shape to make sure it looks good in all screen sizes.

This means that no matter where you are, on the go, at work, or at home, you can see our site and be able to use it just fine.  Happy browsing!

Undefeated… On The Road in 2014!

The 2014 Dallas Cowboys finished the year 12-4 and amazingly went 8-0 on the road.

Now that’s impressive!

Road Warriors

Finish the Fight.

I wanted to share some thoughts about how AWESOME Jason Garrett has been this season as a coach. I can’t applaud him enough. There is something to be said about his leadership in making sure morale is high.

Fight. That was the motto this season and I challenge anyone to prove that hasn’t been true for the Dallas Cowboys. It wasn’t just about Fighting. It was about what it takes to #FinishTheFight. He could have benched his starters early on in the game. He didn’t. We already had the division, why not?

Morale. You finish what you started. You don’t just win, you win big. You don’t just match records, you break them. You keep breaking them. It wasn’t just a win. This game will send us into the playoffs pumped.

The fight isn’t over.

Dallas Cowboys Google+ Community

Fun fact, since we started the Dallas Cowboys Community on Google+ (I was lucky enough to snag it while I could), it’s gained over 9000 followers.  Our Facebook page is equally impressive.

Have you checked it out, yet?
