According to a report in the The Dallas Morning News, Akwasi Owusu-Ansah is back with the Cowboys. The 24-year-old safety, who was most recently a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, was claimed off waivers Tuesday along with former Tampa Bay punter Jake Rogers during a flurry of activity that included the release of undrafted rookie cornerback Troy Woolfolk. Owusu-Ansah was selected by the Cowboys in the fourth round in 2010 and was cut last November after the team moved him from [...]

Ratliff Staying Put At Nose Tackle
According to a report on ESPN, Cowboys defensive line coach Brian Baker revealed that the team has no plans on moving Jay Ratliff from nose tackle to end. Ratliff wore down as the season progressed because of a rib muscle strain. Baker said Ratliff played the fewest snaps percentage wise in 2011 since he’s been a starter. “Jay got hurt,” Baker said. “Jay was busted up that’s why we had to get him through it.” Baker said [...]

Cowboys Draft Day Notes and News
Drafting Starters According to the Star-Telegraph, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said he expects players drafted in the first three rounds to be starters. Not necessarily Day 1 starters, but soon. “Day 1 starters? You can’t say that. Nobody can say that, but at some point in their careers, you would like to think that they’re a starter, and the sooner the better,” Garrett said Wednesday at Valley Ranch, a day before the Cowboys were scheduled [...]

Cowboys Notes: James & Newman Have New Teams, Felix Jones Is Staying Put
Texans Love Them Some Bradie Linebacker Bradie James signed a one-year, $890,000 deal with the Houston Texans. He gets $250,000 guaranteed, including $65,000 up front. The Cowboys had no intentions of bringing James back as he lost more and more playing time to second-year player Sean Lee. James was a fourth-round pick for the Cowboys in the 2005 Draft, and led the team in tackles for six consecutive seasons before 2011. He was a fan [...]

There’s a lot of stuff going on today, so pay attention… The Dallas Cowboys have signed formerNew York Jets safety Brodney Pool, coach Jason Garrett said during a Thursday morning conference call. Terms were not disclosed. Pool played for the Jets the last two seasons and was credited with four quarterback hurries, three pass breakups and one interception last season. Cowboys Cut Kicker David Buehler
As the Cowboys begin to posture and create room for signing some free agents, kicker David Buehler was released today according to a team spokesman. Buehler was scheduled to count more than $1.6 million against the Cowboys’ 2012 salary cap, and he was viewed as a luxury on the roster and not a necessity. Releasing him frees up more money for the team to pursue free agents with the NFL’s free agency period opening at [...]

Cowboys Notes: Spencer Get Franchise Tag, Bounty Hunting, Cowboys Reach Out To Brooking
The Cowboys tried to work out a long-term deal with outside linebacker Anthony Spencer the last few weeks but couldn’t complete one, so instead of allowing him to hit the open market, the Cowboys placed the franchise tag on him. Spencer will get a projected $8.8 million in base salary for the 2012 season, barring a sudden change in the franchise tag. The Cowboys will continue to negotiate with Spencer on a longterm deal. Jason [...]

Cowboys Devoid Of Leadership
Leadership continues to be at the forefront of Dallas Cowboys headlines since the comments made by defensive end Jason Hatcher on ESPN a couple of weeks ago. During his appearance he was asked to name the leaders on his team. His response made many Cowboys officials queasy to say the least: “Dude. I gotta be honest with you: That’s a good question. That’s a good question. I really don’t know. It’s just another thing we really need … like [...]

One Can Always Hope…
Giants win the Super Bowl… Totally sucks… It could have been us… It should have been us! Anyway, time to move forward…. Saw this on ESPN and thought I’d share it here: SportsCenter posed the question: “Which team that missed the playoffs has the best chance of winning Super Bowl XLVII?” Analyst Tim Hasselbeck’s answer: The Dallas Cowboys. “Lot of talent on that football team,” Hasselbeck said. “Miles Austin not injured. Defense, another year with [...]

Cowboys Need More Players Who HATE To Lose
Get the most NFL coverage and catch every Cowboys game next year with the NFL Sunday Ticket on Direct TV. Most of the time I hardly agree with anything JJT has to say, but I must say he is spot on with this post in which he calls into questions the Cowboys’ inability to come through in the clutch. Jason Garrett can fix the Cowboys. First, though, he must stop lying to himself. He can add [...]
