Anthony Spencer Influenced Mock Off-Season(s)
Dallas will go one of three ways with Anthony Spencer: 1. Let him walk via free agency 2. Work out a long term deal 3. Franchise him In this mock, I’m picking the fan’s least favorite scenario and franchising him, counting $8.8 mil. against the 2012 CAP. I would NEVER do this, but Jerry is unpredictable, so I’m just mocking a “what-if”…sorry folks… Free Agency: Anthony Spencer OLB $8.8 mil. (franchised…ouch…I know…) Laurent Robinson [...]

Last Mock Off Season Of January 2012
I have been busy with my off season addiction of researching free agents and draft hopefuls again. Right now I am knee deep in mock drafts and have completed a few complete off seasons as well. I am also currently finishing up my defensive analysis, which I will post in a couple days before leaving for Florida to work for a bit. Here is the last off season mock I made and posted on my [...]

2011 Dallas Cowboys Player Analysis: Offense
Quarterback Tony Romo: With 6 seasons starting under his belt, Romo enters the 2012 season at age 32 as a mature passer with great pocket presence and awareness. With an upgrade at the interior of the offensive line, Romo should have another great statistical year. Will he have a Super Bowl winning year? We’ll see… Stephen McGee: McGee enters a contract year where he hasn’t had much of a chance to show he is a capable backup [...]

Final Mock Draft of 2011
This version of The 2011 Cowboys Mock Draft has Jerry wheelin’ and dealin’ as usual, only this time, he comes out smelling like roses. Yeah, I know. Completely unrealistic already. Well, read it anyway and see what ya think. I used my usual rankings at: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings however, this time I looked around to see what other teams could be doing as opposed to going strictly by the rankings. Trade values are standard and can be [...]

March (Mock) Madness
I want to preface this whole thing with the fact that I realize this is pure fantasy. It’s something that keeps me involved in the NFL and NCAA football seasons when they aren’t playing. (Go Cowboys, Hook Em Horns!) I’ve sifted through most relevant projection sites and two stand out to me: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/TSX/2011 for player rankings and http://www.walterfootball.com/draftchart.php for draft pick value. With that said, I moved around in the draft (Jerry style) to collect [...]

53 Man Roster Prediction
Quarterbacks (2) Tony Romo, Jon Kitna In order to get the proper depth elsewhere, McGee needs to be sacrificed to the Practice Squad. I doubt any team snatches him up. Running Backs (3) Felix Jones, Marion Barber, Tashard Choice Again, this year it’s the same bunch. Lonyae Miller is a good fit for the practice squad. Fullbacks (2) Deon Anderson, Chris Gronkowski Gronkowski is chosen over Tight End Scott Sicko because he is a better [...]

Random Observations
-Miles Austin is a GREAT receiver. He is elite. Period. Dez Bryant will make this offense unstoppable when he finally starts opposite Austin. -2009 Ball State 3rd round pick Robert Brewster is still a year away from being an NFL caliber OT or G. Missing his rookie year due to injury, he just doesn’t have “it” yet. I would release him on the final cuts and try to get him back on the practice squad. [...]

The First Three Rounds In Hindsight
The draft for our Dallas Cowboys started with a bang, as expected, when Jerry Jones traded up in the first round from their spot at 27 to slot 24, jumping ahead of Baltimore and snatching up arguably the best receiver in this year’s draft, Dez Bryant from Oklahoma State. As many of us sat watching the live war room cam, many of us expected a trade up to 12 with Miami. The player many of [...]

Don’t Gamble On Romo’s Backside
In a scenario where Jerry is not completely convinced that Doug Free will hold up the blind side and value his ability to back-up either tackle spot, this could be an option: 27. TRADE to Baltimore for Jared Gaither There WILL be a projected first round tackle that falls to the Cowboys at 27. Could be any one of these three; Anthony Davis, Charles Brown or Bruce Campbell. They could also reach for a tweener [...]
