« A Special 9/11 Message From StarStruck | Main | Injury Update: Ellis, Newman to Return to Practice »

No Excuses 'Cause This Is Our Year

I will never complain of a win. A win is always good, but I am a Jimmy Johnson type of person.  There are no excuses for mistakes, no excuses for stupid penalties. That is one area the Cowboys have to fix very fast.

The defense gave up alot of yards and points, but I believe those areas can be fixed. The absence of Newman is a major factor and his return will give the defense a sudden boast.

I am more impressed with Romo. Despite the late interception, he played a near flawless game. He was very poised in the pocket with the quickest release I have seen in a QB in a long time. If the offense keeps playing this way, we will be tough to beat. The defense will get better, you can believe that.

It's time to get excited my Cowboy family. I truly believe this is our year and we are going to bring it to the house. Show your love for the 'Boys next Sunday.  And let’s show them DEADSKINS how to beat up a dolphin.

COWBOYS 4 LIFE

Right on man, I'm like, and I really miss Jimmy too. I even typed my thoughts on "the stomping of the giants!" Miami is gonna think a Texas Tornado swept through right after a huricane, when we're done with 'em. Here's what I thought of our last game:.....

I am so thankful that our offense was as potent as any other in the league last night. Our defense stunk up the field big time. It was like Roy Williams wasn't even on the field. The ball carriers ran him over on the 3 or 4 tackles he did make (which included 2 special teams tackles). Offensive linemen totally obliterated him with downfield blocking. I don't think he has picked up Wade's defense. It was designed to improve his ability to make big plays, not put him in obscurity. He's not the only one that really pissed me off either. We ran up our points by throwing play action passed over the middle. The could've had 50+ points by going play action with throws anywhere to Burress and Toomer. We only put pressure on Eli a few times, but it wasn't nearly enough to force him to make the kind of mistakes we like to see opposing quarterbacks make. A better pass rush would've concealed how poorly our secondary was playing. It wasn't all bad back there. I really liked the contribution Ken Hamlin made.

Our run defense didn't do much better. But I think their offense was less potent with Brandon Jacobs as their tailback. When he was in the game, they played tight. focusing on running the ball. Our guys would make the first hit near or behind the line of scrimmage, but he would carry or run through them for 7 or 8 yards. I hate to see an injury that looks like his, even if he plays for a division rival. Unlike eagles fans, we don't chear when opponents get hurt, those bastards. Jocobs' backup really allowed NY to open up their offense, and he almost broke my heart with that 44 yard run. Our red zone defense was the only bright spot, but I think they could've exploited our secondary even with a short field.

Take away a couple of offensive plays and Romo and the rest of the offense were spectacular. The offense just wouldn't let our defense give away the game. I would like to see T.O. earn some of his pay in the first half with catches not just great blocking. But Romo has to get the ball to the open man, and with exception of the interception, Romo did a great job of throwing to the right guy. Marion Barber made a strong case on why he should be the starter and J. J. should be the spell back. Our O-line gave decent protection, but they have to eliminate the penalties. Jason Garrett did an excellent job of calling plays and orcestrating the offense. Romo had me very excited with 4 passing and 1 rushing touchdowns. He definitly rocked the giants world, by spreading the love and keeping their defense guessing. We need a lot more of that this season.

Special teams gave me a scare, but overall they took care of business. Da Boys won, but they had me on the edge of my seat and I have no finger nails left. But I will take a win any way we can get it. Gooo000OOO COWBOYS!
