On the Road Again...

Hey Cowboy Fans!

We survived the Bye and now we watch our favorite team from afar for two weeks. The next three weeks are division games. This could get interesting. If you have seen our schedule, you know that we have some good games coming! I imagine you are as optimistic about the remaining games as I am.

Of course, I am still trying to stay with the team: One Game At A Time! This weekend, we meet up with Philly. While it will be a good game, I know the Cowboys will be victorious! HURRAY!! Pluck the Eagles, Cowboys, then do it again in December at home! Watch out for flying feathers!

Like most Cowboy fans, the Eagles are among my least favorite teams. Nothing pleases me more than seeing one of my least favorite teams getting beat but for some twisted reason, I enjoy seeing the Eagles get plucked more than ANYTHING!! The only thing that makes it better to be me when the Eagles get plucked is when the Cowboys do the pluckin'!

Philly has had every opportunity to have a better record than 3-4. They just aren't the team they used to be. We can't dismiss the rivalry though! Philly has always been out to beat the Cowboys - even if they can't beat anyone else! Not this time, Eagles! They will have to produce FAR better numbers in order to accomplish that goal this year and they just don't have it in 'em!

I'm very excited for Romo and his new contract! I was telling my husband if we didn't get news about a contract during the Bye, we would have to wait for the season to come to an end. Aren't you glad we didn't have to wait?? I believe Romo is our future leader. I love who he is as an individual and what he brings to the team. The Cowboys were looking for a star... someone to fill the very big shoes of Aikman. They found that in Romo and I couldn't be more happy about that! WAY TO GO, ROMO!!

On a personal note, I would like to send out a big WAY TO GO to my husband. We predict the games every season for fun and bragging rights. He's whooping me this season. He had a perfect week going until the Monday Night Game ended in over-time. He now has 80 wins this season. He's ahead of the Pro's on INFL and he is on pace to shatter his best record ever!

Between you and me, I like that he still hasn't had a perfect week predicting the games. That's the only football related glory I have over him! I went 14-0 in 2005 and you can bet I don't let him forget it!! hehe!

Happy Halloween, everyone!

GO COWBOYS!!

Breaking News: Tony Romo Signs A 6-Year $67.5 Million Dollar Deal

Great news Cowboys fans!

ESPN has just reported that Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Tony Romo will now be wearing the silver and blue until the year 2014, after a signing a huge landmark deal that will put him among the highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

ESPN also says that the deal is expected to be announced at an 11 a.m. ET press conference on Tuesday and was primarily negotiated on Romo's behalf by agents Ken Kremer and Tom Condon.

We have been clamoring for Jerry Jones to get a deal done since the preseason here at StarStruck, and now we just couldn't be happier.

With Tony Romo signed, sealed, and delivered, the Cowboys have now put the future of the franchise in the hands of one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL. Romo has proven that he is resilient and that he can learn and continue to grow into a dominant signal caller.

Tony Romo was in the final year of his contract and would have become a free agent at the end of the season. Instead he will now focus on leading the Cowboys to another coveted Super Bowl trophy in 2008 and beyond.

This is a great day to be Cowboys fan!

ESPN and FOX Should Give The Cowboys Their Props

I am growing sick and tired of the lack of respect that is being shown to the Dallas Cowboys during some popular pregame shows like NFL Today, FOX NFL Sunday, ESPN NFL Blitz, etc.

You would think that a team like the Cowboys who lead their division with a 6-1 record would get some recognition for their achievement. Instead, they are constantly the butt end of a joke and constantly subjected to many underhanded and uncalled for remarks suggesting that the Cowboys are not as good as their record would dictate.

Each of those shows actually feature many former Dallas Cowboys players or head coaches including Jimmie Johnson, Emmitt Smith, Deion Sanders, Troy Aikman, just to name a few. In many instances I have seen them defend the team or the player, most notably Tony Romo, whenever something is said that is really out of line. Most of the time it's just laughed off like it's a big joke, although believe me, I'm certainly not laughing.

This past Sunday I actually reached a boiling point after the Giants beat the Dolphins for their sixth straight win.  During the post game show, one of the announcers made an off the cuff remark about the cream finally rising to the top in the NFC East.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

The Giants beat the damn 0-8 Miami Dolphins, not the 8-0 New England Patriots! Before that they played beat the 2-6 San Francisco 49ers, the 1-6 Atlanta Falcons, and the 1-7 New York Jets. We're supposed to be afraid of the Giants just because they won six straight games against teams with a combined record of 11-34? Gimme a freaking break!

I just can't wait until week 10 when we storm into Giants Stadium and show them and each of the NFL sports networks, who the real class of the division is.

I hope that ESPN and Fox will have the guts to say they were wrong about the Cowboys and finally give Tony Romo and company, the respect and recognition they deserve.

Timing Is Everything This Season

One of the many reasons I know that this is the Dallas Cowboys' year is that unlike last season, many things have been going the Cowboy's way so far this season.

Take this weekend for example, you couldn't have picked a better time for the Cowboys to have their bye week!

With Tony Romo nursing a sore hamstring and Terrell Owens trying to recover from a gimpy ankle, the timing couldn't have been more perfect to rest our teams two biggest stars.

Even Anthony Henry, who has been sorely missed would not have been able to play this weekend if there had been a game, but is expected to be fully recovered by week nine, just in time to play the Eagles.

The entire team will also benefit from the mental break of the first half of the season, and have some time to contemplate their successful first half, and what they need to do to finish out the season with a big bang!

Things seem to be quiet and peaceful in Irving, Texas these days, and you know what???

It feels good!!! It's nice to know that there is no inner turmoil or player controversies as we get ready for the second half.

If anyone had any doubts about Wade Phillips and the rest of the coaching staff, you can all put your minds at ease. Phillips and company have done a remarkable job of transitioning the team into a winning mindset after the disappointment of last season. They have done a wonderful job of making Terrell Owens feel like an insider and for the first time since he became a Cowboy, he has taken a large leadership role on this team. You can also credit Jason Garrett for helping Tony Romo take the next big step in developing into one of the leagues top quarterbacks.

Like I said, things are really going good for the Cowboys this year. Sometimes, it's the little things you notice that can have a major impact on the team.

GO COWBOYS!

Woohoo Cowboys!

Sunday's game was FANtastic! We had so much fun! I took almost 300 pictures at the game. You can see the best shots by clicking here! My sis-n-law attended her first Cowboy's game Sunday. That made the day even more special and made me think of my first time!

I've been hooked ever since!!

I'm not looking forward to this weekend. No Cowboys game! Oh well, after our Bye, things get real interesting. Don't you agree? Maybe the team will get some of what us fans need... A LITTLE REST! We've enjoyed a super charged start to the season. I'm looking forward to an even MORE excitement after the Bye! Our favorite team is well on their way and I believe they are ready for the tough schedule we have ahead of us.

I would like the team to know that fans like me are with them all the way! We know they are champions and we're excited about the season so far! I hope one of them reads this and does me a huge favor since I can't do it myself. Pluck the Eagles in week 9 then pop Shockey upside his melon head in week 10! I know he'll start talking smack in the near future and nothing pleases me more than to see him eat Crow.... or leftover Eagle from the week before! hehe!

Okay, Cowboy fans! If you're as excited about the Cowboy's future as I am, click comment and give us a WoooHoooo Cowboys!!

Enjoy the Bye!

GO COWBOYS!!

The Cowboys Need a Valiant Game Plan

Going in the bye week being 6-1 is exactly what I predicted at the start of the season, so I am happy about that. Some would argue that going into the bye with such a hot start is a bad thing, but I disagree. The Cowboys need this bye week and its coming at just the right time.

We have some players hurt that need the rest. The Cowboys need a valiant game plan for the games coming ahead. We have three hard divisional games right around the corner. Those games are going to be critical. We can not afford to make the mistakes that have plagued us for the past couple of weeks. The mistakes cost us against New England and almost cost us against the Vikings.

As I stated in a previous blog, I am a Jimmy Johnson no nonsense type of guy that absolutely hates mistakes. Mistakes cost you ball games and should not be tolerated by the coach or the players. We need to put a chip on our shoulders and go into the next few weeks ready to play, looking forward to taking on any team that is trying to beat us.

I guarantee you the FEAGLES are looking forward to the game against Dallas. Nothing would be sweeter to them than beating the division leaders at home in front of a sold out crowd. We need to have that same energy and intensity and show them just how we really feel about them. Coming out of the next few weeks with victories would be a huge boost in morale, and getting us one step closer to playing in Glendale. I am already sitting here waiting for them to come. GET YOUR DAMN POPCORN READY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

COWBOYS 4 LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You Are What Your Record Says You Are

It's so hard to believe that we are already almost at the halfway point in the season already...

Here we are going into our bye week with a nearly perfect 6-1 record and sitting all alone at the top of the NFC East division.

One can argue that the last three games were not exactly vintage Cowboys football, but sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. And, we did win two of those three games...

Somehow though, this season tends to remind me of the great run we had last season after Tony Romo replaced Drew Bledsoe. We looked so strong and played so well and then all of a sudden we ran into a brickwall and practically limped into that game in Seattle. You all know how that ended up...

What worries me is not so much that we lost to the Patriots, heck who hasn't lost to them...

I'm more concerned at how difficult it was to get the wins over bad teams like the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings. We should have really blown those teams away and we didn't. We barely came out of Buffalo with that exciting win, and Sunday's game had me completely dumbfounded. The final score of 24-14 over the Vikings does not even tell the complete story of what happened. When you look at the Cowboys total yardage of 381 yards compared to the Vikings 196, and when you see that we completed 31 passes compared to only 6 completions for the Vikings, you can't help but wonder why the score was not more like 38-14. In fact, if you take away that defensive touchdown by Pat Watkins, it begs the question, "How in the world did we have all that offense and yet only score 17 points?"

Anyhow, my concern is the schedule we have to deal with after we return from our bye. We must go to Philadelphia to face the Eagles, and then to New York to face a very hot Giants team. I'm not as worried about the Eagles as I am about the Giants who are only one game behind us.

We need to play some very crisp football from here on out. We can't bank on getting lucky again. I am very impressed with both the defense and offense so far this season. I am equally impressed with our Special Teams play as well. The Dallas Cowboys do not suffer from any serious flaws in their game. However, they do have many instances during a game where they seem to lose some focus and make some bad decisions.

While we may have been able to overcome some of that malaise in the first half of the season, I'm not so sure we will be as lucky in the second half. That's why I implore Wade Phillips and the rest of the coaching staff to iron out these minor flaws now and roll into Philadelphia with a killer instinct. I believe the Cowboys are the best team in the division, but we need to make sure that the players believe that as well, and most importantly play with the swagger and confidence of a championship team.

A win is a win is a win. We are 6-1 and like Bill Parcells always used to say, "You are what your record says you are." The Cowboys are on the verge of a magical season. They have to kick it up a notch and start believing in themselves. If they can do that, you can tell the rest of the NFC East, "turn out the light's, the party's over." Here's to a great second half...

A Side Note - Can we all agree that our tight end Jason Witten has been the overwhelming MVP of the team so far this season? What an amazing first half by Witten who leads all recievers in receptions, total yardage, and is tied for the lead in touchdowns with 4. He is currently the top ranked tight end in the NFC, and leads the league in total yardage, yards per catch, yards per game, receptions, and touchdowns. At only 25 years old, Witten is now coming into his own, and before all is said and done, he may just well be the best tight end in the history of the franchise.

GAME RECAP: COWBOYS 24 - VIKINGS 14

Blocked FG Return for TD Sparks Cowboys to 24-14 Win

The Cowboys bounced back from their first loss of the year to beat the Vikings 24-14 at Texas Stadium to improve to 6-1 headed into their bye week.  It was a fast start to the game but proved to be a battle all the way to the 4th quarter.

"If there's any kind of doubt about what kind of heart or character they have, we saw it again," Dallas coach Wade Phillips said. "For some reason, we've been behind every game. We seem to keep our poise."

Dallas got on the board early.  After receiving the ball to begin the game, Tony Romo marched the Cowboys right down the field, completeing 9/10 passes on the 14-play drive, ending with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Terrell Owens for a 7-0 Cowboys lead.

If would be short-lived though.  On Minnesota's first drive, Adrian Peterson, the hometown kid from Palestine, Texas, sliced right through the Dallas defense for a 20-yars TD to tie the game at 7 all.

With 5:30 left in the 2nd quarter, and the Cowboys threatening to score again, Tony Romo was sacked at the Vikings 17 and fumbled the ball.  Kevin Williams picked it up and returned to the end zone for a touchdown, but a holding penalty brought it back and Minnesota didn't score on the drive.

They would make up for it though.  After Tony Romo completed a short pass to Patrick Crayton, Crayton fumbled the ball and Ben Leber picked it up and took it to midfield.  Just as he was being tackled, he flipped a lateral to Cedric Griffin, who returned the rest of the way for the touchdown, even after fumbling at the Dallas 27 to give the Vikings a 14-7 lead at halftime.  Nick Folk missed a 50-yard field goal at the end of the half that would've cut the lead to 14-10.

Tony Romo was 28/32 for 231 yards at halftime.  He injured his hamstring on a play trying to stop the Vikings from returning the Patrick Crayton fumble for the TD, but stayed in for the rest of the game, so that's a relief.

Marion Barber III would tie the game at 14 halfway through the 3rd quarter when he punched in a 1-yard run just across the goal line.  The Vikings challenged, but it was upheld.

Things would then really begin to favor the Cowboys after some bad breaks in the 1st half.  With Brian Longwell attempting a 48-yard FG that would've given the Vikings a 17-14 lead, Chris Canty dove in and blocked the kick.  The ball popped high into the air, and Patrick Watkins returned the ball 62 yards for a touchdown that gave Dallas a 21-14 lead that they would not relinquish.  It was the Cowboys 1st blocked FG returned for a TD since the 1983 season.  That is unbelievable.

The Cowboys would then force an Adrian Peterson fumble and convert it into a field goal to make the final score 24-14 Cowboys.

Tony Romo completed 31/39 passes for 277 yards and a TD.  Only 3 of those completions came in the 2nd half.  He still looks very good and I don't think that it will be too much longer before a deal gets done, but we'll see.

Marion Barber III carried the ball 19 times for 96 yards and a touchdown while Julius Jones rushed for 28 yards on 9 attempts.

Terrell Owens caught 7 passes for 103 yards and a TD and Jason Witten grabbed 10 balls for 86 yards.  Julius Jones had 4 receptions for 30 yards and Patrick Crayton had 2 catches for 19 yards.

The defense looked stellar yet again this week, only giving up a touchdown on Minnesota's opening drive of the game.  Greg Ellis had 2 sacks while Bradie James contributed had one.  Jason hatcher forced a fumble from Peterson that allowed the Cowboys to gain a 2 possession lead too.  The special teams also came up big with Chris Canty's amazing block on the field goal attempt and Patrick Watkins return for the touchdown.

Nick Folk made 1/2 field goals today, connecting from 45 yards out but missing on a 50-yard attempt at the end of the half.  He has still made 13/15 FG's on the season.

This was a great way to head into the bye week.  Maybe not the prettiest win, but we'll take it.

"The bottom line is we executed," Romo said.

The next 3 games will be critical, as they could decide who will win the NFC East.  Our next game isn't until Sunday night, so hopefully this will give the players that need the rest a chance to get their feet back under them.

HOW 'BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!!

GAME PREVIEW: VIKINGS @ COWBOYS

Vikings (2-3) vs. Cowboys (5-1), Sunday, October 21, 3:15 PM CT on FOX

Week 7 Preview:

The Dallas Cowboys look to bounce bounce from their first defeat of the season and head into their bye week 6-1 as they take on the Minnesota Vikings at Texas Stadium on Sunday.

As strange as this sounds, a loss Sunday against the Vikings could mean that we share the lead in the NFC East.  The Giants are sitting at 4-2 with a 4-game win streak while the Redskins are in at 3-2.

Adrian Peterson will be the main focus of the Cowboys defense.  He ran all over Chicago for 224 yards last week at Chicago, and is the ignition to the offense.  Minnesota has the 28th ranked pass offense in the NFL, so stopping Peterson will go a long way to a Dallas victory Sunday.  The Cowboys have not allowed a 100-yard rusher all season long, so something will have to give.

The Dallas offense should have a field day passing the ball, as the Vikings have the worst overall pass defense in the NFL .  However, Minnesota also has the most takeaways, with 14.  Rushing the ball could prove to be a huge challenge though, as the Vikings have the 2nd best rush defense in the NFL.

It is possiblew that Greg Ellis could takeover the starting position as linebacker for the first time this season.  Wade Phillips says that it is up in the air as to whether that will happen or if Anthony Spencer will start in his place again.

Starting wide receiver Terry Glenn (knee), and starting cornerback Anythony Henry (knee), are out with their respective injuries.  It is likely that Henry will be back after the bye week though, so that is good news.  Fullback Oliver Hoyte (neck) is doubtful, safety Courtney Brown (biceps), is questionable, and safety Keith Davis is probable.

Injury Report: Week 7

Game Status:

Out
WR Terry Glenn (Knee)
CB Anthony Henry (Ankle)

Doubtful
FB Oliver Hoyte (Neck)

Questionable
S Courtney Brown (Biceps)

Probable
S Keith Davis (Shoulder)

Anthony Henry is still out with that high ankle sprain. This will be his third week out, hopefully after the bye week coming up he can return in the following game against Philly.

Keith Davis returned last week and made it through the game with some soreness. He should be active and ready to go on Sunday.

Rookie safety Courtney Brown hasn't played in a game yet, but we may get to see him in action this week.

There were worries about Tony Romo after hearing that he had a shoulder strain this past week. It was his non-throwing arm, no concern there and he was not on the injury report.

A Tank Will Soon Join The Big Guns in Dallas

Recently signed Terry "Tank" Johnson has been given permission to practice with the Cowboys and will join the team for Game 10 against the New York Giants. Tank was given an 8 game suspension by the NFL following some off-the-field legal issues.

The Cowboys signed the defensive tackle to a 2-year deal back in September after the loss of Jason Ferguson due to injury. Tank should fit in nice at the nose tackle position despite never playing in a 3-4 scheme. Tank has been practicing on his own in Valley Ranch and attending required counseling.

Tank Johnson was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2004. In his three years with the Bears, Johnson had 63 tackles and nine sacks. He was part of a great defensive which included Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, and Nathan Vasher. During Super Bowl XLI, Tank recorded 4 tackles, 1 assist and half a sack.

Johnson has had more than his share of legal problems. He was arrested for concealed possession of a handgun in November of 2005. He pled guilty to the misdemeanor charge and received 18 months probation. Three months following this incident he was arrested again and charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest, but those charges were later dropped.

In December of 2006, he was arrested once again for gun charges and violation of probation. Police found six unlicensed weapons in his home, including two assault rifles. The judge sentenced Tank to home confinement, but he was given permission to attend the Super Bowl with the Chicago Bears. After the Super Bowl Johnson pled guilty to the violation of probation charge and served 120 days in jail. He was released May 13, 2007.

The following month Tank was pulled over for speeding and driving under the influence. However, he was released and the charges were dropped. The blood test conducted at the time of the arrest later confirmed his blood alcohol content was under the legal limit. The Chicago Bears seen this as the last straw and released him on June 25, 2007.

It seems that Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are looking to give Tank Johnson a second chance.

"Real gregarious kind of guy," said Coach Wade Phillips. "He's ready to play, wants to play, seems excited about it. And he's a pretty personable guy. All positives as far as I'm concerned, and he's working hard. He listens."

Hopefully Tank will take this opportunity that he has been given by the Dallas Cowboys and turn his life around. Everyone may deserve a second chance, but ask anyone, Jerry Jones won't give you a third chance.

BE A REAL FAN!!!

I am currently commuting back and forth between Abilene and Dallas. Typically I'm only in Dallas on the weekends to spend time with my son. He's 15 and a real rock star on his baseball team. Yet he's more of a football fan. I really enjoy watching football with him. He's of course a Cowboys fan. He's also a really hard core Longhorns fan. He is so emotional about his teams that sometimes it's frustrating for me. It's really interesting to watch the transitions a teenager goes through. Just when you think you have them figured out, they change on you.

Last season, near the end, when The Cowboys had a big loss, he took down his Cowboys myspace layout and put up an LT layout. Kelly will remember this. I was pissed! I told him that he's being fairweathered. We had a very heated discussion about this. I really didn't think I got through to him. Then the draft came and he had a nervous breakdown over Brady Quinn being passed over by The Cowboys. I explained that it was the right thing to do in backing up Romo, on Jerry and Stephen Jones' part. Again, I just got that look that teenagers give and figured I had gotten nowhere.

This season, I saw that I had possibly gotten through but maybe a little too much. One good thing is that LT is still on his myspace but he's just a hero. JD makes it clear he's a Cowboys fan. Here are some things that he is now getting angry with me about and questioning my loyalty!

I pointed out to him the difference between Marion Barber and Julius Jones and called Julius "glass legs". To him this means I hate Julius.

The Texas OU game was coming up and I told him to prepare himself for our guys to get stomped. He was livid with me because I was not being a true fan in his opinion.

I was such a nervous wreck before the Cowboys and Patriots game, saying we're not ready. We can't beat them yet, but still hoping for a miracle. Well that pissed him off too.

I'm calling this a 190 degree turn. We went a little too far! But I think he's headed in the right direction. I don't hate Julius Jones. I don't even want him fired or traded. I'm greedy and want to keep JJ and MB. I want The Longhorns to beat the Sooners every year in the Red River Shoot Out. I wanted The Cowboys to beat The Patriots more than I have wanted anything in a long time. I am not ever what I consider to be critical. I just see the difference between a good player and a great player. I see the difference between a really good football team and a near perfect football team. Still I am so glad I am not hearing my child say "we suck" or having knee jerk reactions like changing his flag or his colors just because of one or two bad games.

Now back to Abilene. If you know me, you know I am Dallas city urban girl. Born and raised in the heart of Big D. I love my home and I don't love small towns, suburbia, remote places of any kind. They're great for a weekend, but that is it for me. I hate being in Abilene but I love the time I am spending with my father here. I don't go out much without my Dad in Abilene because I stick out like a sore thumb in this God forsaken place, wherever I go. Well, I made an exception and it was a mistake. Monday night, I had watched all my primetime shows and my Dad was away in South Texas. I was at a fairly decent drive up motel here in Abilene and my much younger brother had mentioned that the bar there was ok. I was in the mood for an Amaretto or two and I figured Monday Night football was on at the bar so I thought "what the heck". I walked in and noticed every head turn to see who was coming in the door. I went on to the bar and sat down facing the big screen with the game on. I asked the bartendress for an Amaretto and then it began. She asks me "You want the real kind? Cuz we ain't got that here." Then she walks over and grabs the "fake kind" and shows it to me. I told her that would be fine. Then she proceeds to pour it over ice and I stopped her. I asked her to please give it to me straight up. She slaps a shot glass down in front of me and fills it up. I grinned and decided it was no big deal; especially after she said "that's a buck-fifty". So I drank Amaretto out of a shot glass for the first time ever.

I just kept staring at the big screen and trying to ignore the stares coming at me "the blonde stranger" in the half redneck/half college student flooded motel bar on Martin Luther King Jr Blvd in Abilene, TX (if you don't get the humor in that then you haven't been to Abilene). I engaged in lite football conversation with some traveling married guy looking to cheat on his wife. It was of course a conversation about football. Once I responded that I was a die-hard Cowboy fan, I blew my chances of having any fun in this bar. 'Married guy' had just bought me another shot of Amaretto and the bar maid says "T.O. sucks, I hate that 'n'-word". Then some dude who appeared to come out of the wall, says "What the 'F' happened to The Cowboys Sunday, they need to go back to training camp". And the idiot fest was on. I heard more crap in 2 minutes from more drunk idiots calling themselves Cowboys fans in a bar adorned with Cowboys posters and neons, then you can imagine. I chugged my Amaretto, which is really gross, you don't do that with Amaretto! And I said outloud "Well that's my cue, if I stay one more minute, I will have to give lessons on being a REAL COWBOYS FAN and I am not interested in spending the night in jail". I had really good timing too because as the door closed behind me I heard the words "Romo" and "Homo" and I knew I would have been in trouble had I not left just when I did.

This kind of fanship is infuriating to me. One loss against the greatest team in the league and that kind of talk? PUHLEEZ! Well at least I got my kid straightened out, although he'll never give me credit for it. Then again, he's really smart. I didn't meet any smart people in that bar.

GO COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!

Disappointing Loss?

I DON"T THINK SO!

A disappointing loss is a loss against a team we should have won hands down... The kind of team that makes you wonder if they would even bother showing up. Sunday's loss against New England was anything but disappointing. In fact, it was everything I hoped it would be! Exciting, entertaining, moving and encouraging are words I would use to describe this game... not disappointing!

We arrived almost three hours before the game. The parking lot was already packed with tailgate parties and enthusiastic game goers. As a fan in the stands, I found myself surrounded by fellow Cowboy Fans and friendly Patriot fans. Deep in my Cowboy Lovin' heart, I knew this game would be a battle and the odds of the Cowboys winning was not 100%.

But, fans showed up by the dozens to support their team: win, lose or tie! Not only am I proud of the Cowboys for hangin' in and hangin' on with a team like New England but I'm especially proud of my fellow fans! Cowboy fans showed how true winners celebrate facing a loss. I did not see disappointment in their eyes as I walked back to my car... I saw HOPE and EXCITEMENT for the future!

"Confidence is not rattled or shaken at all," Spears said. "There are a lot of teams that were wishing they were 5-1 right now. We lost a football game. It's not the end of the world."

Spears is right, ya know? It's not the end of the world! And we have every reason to be excited! It is still very early in the season and our favorite team is looking good! The noise and energy us fans produced Sunday needs to return this Sunday! I asked you guys to make so much noise that my ears would ring for days, right? Well, the humming stopped late last night! That's how you know the fans were LOUD AND PROUD, right!?

THANK YOU, COWBOY FANS!!! I enjoyed every hum-filled moment!

I would also like to comment on the fan signs at the game! Some were FAN-tastic! I think I spent as much time reading them as I did screaming, "Go Cowboys!" Everyone got very creative and I LOVED IT! One, in particular, stands out in my mind. Probably because as soon as I saw it, I thought of this website and all of you! It said Star Struck and had a Cowboy Star piercing a Patriot in the head. It was very cool! If that was yours, you sat a few rows in front of me! I totally tried to get a chance to say hello but my timing was way off!

Our Prayers Go Out to Ron Springs and His Family

From dallascowboys.com.

Former Cowboys RB Ron Springs In Coma

According to published reports, former Dallas Cowboys running back Ron Springs fell into a coma in a Dallas hospital because of complications from a Saturday surgery to have a cyst removed from one of his arms.

Springs, 50, has battled complications from diabetes for 16 years and received a kidney from former Cowboys teammate Everson Walls in February.

The Washington Redskins announced Tuesday that cornerback Shawn Springs has flown to Dallas to be with his father.

Don't Hang This Loss On Our Defense

When the Patriots rolled into town on Sunday, some likened it to the "Clash of the Titans," and on many levels it was. Two great teams, both with undefeated records, were going to do battle on an extreme level, and only one team would come out of it with their undefeated record intact. Unfortunately, it was the Patriots who prevailed as the Cowboys were left scratching their heads and wondering what went wrong.

A victory for the Cowboys was clearly in their grasp in the early going, but as the seconds and then minutes ticked away, the chasm between the Patriots and the Cowboys widened, and there was no catching the Pats on this day.

The Cowboys defense came ready to play, the offense on the other hand, did not. The Cowboys offense did what they've been doing all season long, and didn't show up until the second quarter of the game. For the first five games of the season, they were able to get away with their three-quarters style of play, but when you face a team as good as the Patriots, you need to play at full throttle for all four quarters.

Instead of wearing down the Patriots defense, our offense wore down our own defense. They failed to convert on third-down way too many times early in the game, and the Patriots dominated possession of the ball for most of the first half and kept the Dallas defense on the field far longer than they should have been. Of course there were other factors that contributed to the loss, like the number of penalties (12-98 Yards), and not being able to establish the run until it was too late, but when you allow the opposition to control the ball for almost 40 minutes, it's going to bite you in the butt.

The bottom line is that we lost and now we have to move on and focus on the Vikings. We can only hope that moving forward that the Cowboys show up ready to play... for all four quarters...

Go Cowboys!

GAME RECAP: PATRIOTS 48 - COWBOYS 27

Patriots Wear Down Cowboys' 'D' in 48-27 Win

The Dallas Cowboys dropped to 5-1 on the season after a hard fought loss to the Patriots at Texas Stadium Sunday afternoon.  It was actually a much closer game than the score would indicate.

"Well, they are that good," Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips said of the Patriots as he opened his post-game press conference. "I think the final score looks a little worse than it was. But they're a great team. We had our chances . . . we could've stayed in the game. But they played better than we did. They're an outstanding team."

"We wanted to be one of the elite teams in the league," Phillips said. "Obviously, we're not. This was certainly a wake-up call for us."

The Cowboyas started off slow, going 3 and out on their 1st 3 possessions of the game, while the Patriots scored touchdowns on 2 of their 3 possessions, making it 14-0 quickly.  Tom Brady executed a 14-play drive that ended in a 6-yard TD pass to Randy Moss and a 6-play drive that was completed with a 35-pass touchdown pass to Wes Welker.

On Dallas' next possession, Tony Romo led the Cowboys on a long 11-play drive, but it only ended in a Nick Folk field goal to cut the lead to 14-3.

The Cowboys would jump right back into the game after Greg Ellis sacked Tom Brady on a 2 and 10 and forced a fumble, which Jason Hatcher promptly picked up and returned 29 yrads for the touchdown the cut the lead to 14-10 just like that.

The Patriots then executed another great offense drive, running 12 plays and marching 72 yards on a drive that ended in a 12-yard Wes Welker TD, his 2nd of the game to make it 21-10 Patriots.

Before the half, Tony Romo got it back.  With less than 1:00 left in the 1st half, Tony Romo threw a 12-yard TD pass to Terrell Owens to make it a 21-17 game at halftime.

The Cowboys would take their 1st lead of the game on their 1st possession of the 2nd half.  After stopping the New England offense, Tony Romo conducted a 7-play drive that finished with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Crayton to give the Cowboys a 24-21 lead.  It would be very short-lived though.

On the next Patriots drive, New England was driving once again, and a crucial play in the game unfolded.  On 2nd and 7 from  the Dallas 16, Tom Brady tried to find Randy Moss in the end zone.  However, Moss bumped into Pat Watkins, and Watkins was called for pass interference on the play.  It was a bad call that came back to bite the Cowboys on the next play, as Tom Brady found Kyle Brady for the 1-yard score to put the Patriots back on top 28-24.

The Cowboys were only able to tack on another field goal the rest of the game and New England outscored Dallas 17-3 in the 4th quarter, rolling to a 48-27 win.

Tony Romo had a much better game than last week, completing 18/29 passes for 199 yards with 2 TD's and an INT.

"I thought we were moving the ball pretty well there in the second quarter," said Tony Romo.  "I thought we had some things going. We grabbed a little momentum there before halftime."

The running game could never really did get going, as the offense wasn't on the field that much.  Julius Jones carried the ball 6 times for 51 yards while Marion Barber III carried it 8 times for 47 yards.

Terrell Owens finished with 6 receptions for 66 yards and a TD, Patrick Crayton had 5 catches for 46 yards and 1 touchdown, while Jason Witten caught 3 passes for 47 yards.

Although the defense allowed 48 points, they still played solid, except on 3rd downs, where they had some trouble getting the stops they needed.  They did record 3 sacks and force 3 fumbles, the only one that they recovered being returned for a TD.

Penalties killed the Cowboys all game long.  They committed 12 totaling 98 yards.

Nick Folk made both of his field goals, his longest being 38 yards.

Not the best game we could've played obviously, but we kept it close until the 4th quarter, proving that we could hang with the Pastriots and that we can beat them, even if we didn't on Sunday.  Now it's time to focus on the Vikings before our bye week to try to go to 6-1.  We're still in good shape.

GAME PREVIEW: PATRIOTS @ COWBOYS

Patriots (5-0) vs. Cowboys (5-0)  October 14, 3:15 PM CT on CBS

Week 6 Preview:

The Cowboys try to improve to 6-0 on the season and at the same time upset New England and lower their record to 5-1 on the season in what most are calling the biggest game of year so far this year as the Patriots and Cowboys collide at Texas Stadium.  The Patriots had a full week to prepare, coming off an easy win against Cleveland, while the Cowboys are coming off a short week after an emotional 25-24 thriller in Buffalo.

Tony Romo looks to bounce back after a miserable Monday night performance against the Buffalo Bills, throwing 5 INT's and losing a fumble, committing 6 turnovers.  He will need to bring his 'A' game and have a short memory, as the Patriots have one of the best defenses in the NFL.  They will throw everything at Romo, and if he isn't careful, could have another game like last week.

The Cowboys will be challenged with their solid defense as well.  The Patriots have the league's best offense in terms of points scored per game, and are 2nd only to Dallas in yards per game.  As most Cowboys fans already know, Randy Moss is a Cowboys-killer, going 6-0 in games against Dallas with 10 touchdowns.  The corners and safeties are going to have their hands full trying to contain him.  Something that could help change this, is the fact that Greg Ellis says that he is close to 100% and could be used to his full potential against Tom Brady and the Patriots' offense.  This should help put more pressure on Brady and force him to make quicker decisions and hopefully mistakes.

This will be the 1st true test for both teams.  Dallas has been criticized for their weak schedule, in which opponents have a combined 6-19 record, but fail to realize that the Patriots' opponents only have a 7-17 record.

On the injury front, linebacker Kevin Burnett (thigh) is probable.  Safety Keith Davis (shoulder) is questionable and will be a game-time decision.  Fullback Oliver Hoyte (neck) is out.  Fullback Deon Anderson should start in his place and be the only true fullback for the Cowboys.  Wide receiver Terry Glenn (knee), starting cornerback Anthony Henry (ankle), and third-string safety Courtney Brown (biceps) are out.

Injury Report: Week 6

Game Status:

Out
S Courtney Brown (Biceps)
WR Terry Glenn (Knee)
CB Anthony Henry (Ankle)

Doubtful
FB Oliver Hoyte (Neck)

Questionable
S Keith Davis (Shoulder)

Probable
LB Kevin Burnett (Leg)

Anthony Henry did not practice this week. With the high ankle injury he sustained, it may take more time to heal than first thought. It definitely would have been nice to have him for this big game.

Keith Davis practice fully the last two days after a shoulder injury that kept him out of the last two games. Davis will be a game time decision.

Kevin Burnett has had bad luck with injuries this year. During the third quarter of the Bills game he took a helmet to the thigh and suffered some pain and bruising. He should be ready to play on Sunday.

Boys Make Statement on Monday Night's Center Stage

I think I speak for legions of Cowboys fans when I say, what a statement the Boys made in front of a nationally televised audience on Monday Night.

As my brother and I sat arms-length from the television with our hands firmly folded watching Tony Romo engineer the game-winning field goal drive, there was no doubt in my mind that my Cowboys were going to pull off a miracle.

The thought of turning off the game after Tony Romo threw his fifth interception briefly crossed my mind.  I then remembered how many crazy games I had seen the Cowboys win on Monday Night.

There was the New York Giants in 2002, when kicker Billy Cundiff kicked a record-tying 7 field goals in route to an overtime win against the G-Men.

Then there was the game against Seattle in 2004, when quarterback Vinny Testaverde hit Keyshawn Johnson in the back of the endzone to send the game into overtime, where Julius Jones rumbled in for the game winning score.

The Cowboys definately have a Monday Night Mojo.  To be down 8 points with less than 2 minutes to go and have the odds firmly stacked against them, and still leave Orchard Park with a win speaks volumes about this team.  Whether it was Bill Parcells who bestowed this team's resiliency on them in his 4 year stay, whether it be Wade Phillips or Jason Garrett, this team showed the kind of play that champions have on Monday Night.  They proved they have the talent, the composure, and the resiliency to end up in Tempe to play for keeps.

I certainly hope all of Hank's rowdy friends stayed to watch Dallas' Monday Night miracle.

The Most Important Thing

Hey Cowboy Fans! How ya doin' out there and HOW 'BOUT THOSE COWBOYS!?

What a game on Monday Night, huh? WOW!! I had to work Monday night. As soon as my shift was over, I rushed to the car to find the game on the radio. Thank goodness for my subscription to Sirius! As the details flew from space into the cabin of my car, I knew I only had a few minutes to get home before the 3rd Quarter started... and I knew we were behind.

I rushed toward the house while trying to catch up with the haps. Tires squealing and a side-ways skid into the garage, I made it just in time! (Do not try this at home!) I threw the door to the house open and began yelling at my husband, "What's up with my man!?" Without blinking, he began telling me what I missed and all about my man, Tony Romo.

"I just think he (Romo) had a bad day," Phillips said. "I will say this for him. At the end of the game he was still in there. That is what we preach. No matter what the stats are the most important thing is winning the game. That was the most important thing."

He's right, ya know? We all have bad days now and then. As much as we would like to believe that wearing the Cowboy Uniform somehow transforms a person into a Super Hero, it's just not true. They are people like you and me. Bad days just happen.

The only thing that could have made the situation worse is if the team had fallen apart. THEY DIDN'T! They held it together, worked together and made things happen! I'm so proud of The Cowboys for that reason!

Sunday, undefeated New England visits Texas Stadium to play undefeated Dallas. Head-to-Head match-ups show New England out rank the Cowboys... but not by much! Add home field advantage to the mix and you have a recipe for an awesome show!

At the end of the game, only one team will remain undefeated.

The question is: WHICH TEAM?

I believe I will NOT experience the same walk back to my car as Bill's fans did on Monday Night. I believe The Cowboys will remain the undefeated team at the end of the day. I also believe THE FANS in the stands make a difference!

I'M CALLING ON ALL COWBOY FANS TO ACTION! It's time to put on the war paint, break out the markers and poster board. It's time to act a fool when our D is on the field!

THIS IS NOT A DRILL PEOPLE!

I want to hear you LOUD AND PROUD!! I want my ears to ring for a week due to the fan volume! And most importantly, I WANT TO WIN!!

ARE YOU READY, COWBOY FANS!!???

LET ME HEAR YOU!!! Click on Comment! Let's get it started RIGHT NOW!!

HOW 'BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!

See ya at the game!!

GAME RECAP: COWBOYS 25 - BILLS 24

Yes!!!  Folk Kicks Game-Winner as Time Expires in Thrilling Comeback Win!

An NFL game is 60 minutes long.  Apparently someone forgot to tell the Buffalo Bills that.  The Dallas Cowboys stunned the upset-minded Bills and their crowd after Nick Folk kicked the game-winning 53-yard field goal as time expired in a classic that improved the Cowboys' record to 5-0 headed to a battle next Sunday against the also 5-0 New England Patriots at Texas Stadium.

What more can I say about this game?  Tony Romo had what was the worst game so far in his young career stat wise, completing 29/50 passes for 309 yards and 2 TD's, but threw 5 interceptions and also fumbled once, committing 6 turnovers for the game.  It was very hard for Cowboys fans to watch, but he did his job on the last two drives of the drive to give us a chance to win.  That's all I was asking for tonight, and it turned out great.  Not many teams could've overcome what the Cowboys did tonight.

"That's a sign of a pretty resilient team," Romo said. "I think our team, outside of me, played an outstanding football game. They dug me out of it. It was tough to go through that, especially on Monday night.

"No one is going to care when it's all said and done how you won the game."

On the 3rd play of the first Cowboys' drive, Romo threw an interception to George Wilson who returned it 37 yards to the house to give the Bills a 7-0 lead.  The Cowboys would answer though, as Tony Romo found a wide-open Jason Witten for a 22-yard TD pass to tie the game at 7.

After tacking on a field goal to give the Bills a 10-7 lead, Buffalo had Dallas pinned deep in their own territory again, Chris Kelsay picked off Tony Romo in the end zone to give the Bills a 17-7 lead.

Tony Romo did get the Cowboys into field goal range with :03 left and Nick Folk nailed a 47-yarder to cut the Buffalo lead to 17-10 at halftime.  Not too bad considering it could've been a lot worse with Romo's 4 INT's in the 1st half.

In Dallas' first drive of the 2nd half, Romo looked more poised, leading the Cowboys on a 14-play drive.  However, it stalled at the Buffalo 12 and Nick Folk kicked a 29-yard FG to cut the deficit to 17-13.  The ensuing kickoff was tough to watch though, as Terrence McGee ran the kickoff back 103 yards for the Bills touchdown and a 24-13 lead.

It remained that way until early on in the 4th Quarter when Nick Folk kicked yet another FG, this time a 37-yarder.  To make it a one-score game at 24-16.

Things would start to get crazy now.  Just when it looked like the Cowboys might be driving a another score to move closer or possibly take the lead, Tony Romo fumbled at his own 49 and turned the ball over for a 5th time.  The fumble was recovered by Buffalo's Kyle Williams at the Dallas 48.

The Cowboys defense, which was stellar all night, got a huge stop and bailed Romo out again as Terence Newman picked off Trent Edwards pass at the Cowboys 5 and returned it 70 yards to the Buffalo 25, but fumbled.  It was recovered by Dallas nose tackle Jay Ratliff at the Bills 17.  The Cowboys couldn't cash it in though, as Romo threw his 5th pick and committed his 6th turnover on the night.  The pass was picked off by John DiGiorgio at the goal line and returned for 38 yards.

The Dallas defense again stepped up, forcing a 3-and-out, and giving their offense one more shot to tie the game up.  Starting from his own 20, Romo led the Cowboys on what was his best drive of the night, completing 9/11 passes, the last one to Patrick Crayton for a 4-yard touchdown to make it 24-22.  Now Dallas only need the 2-point conversion to tie the game up, but Terrell Owens couldn't hang on to a Romo pass that was ripped out of his hands with :20 left in the game by Jabari Greer.

So with :20 seconds left the Cowboys had the slim shot of an onside-kick recovery, and then either driving into field goal range or completing a hail-mary to win the game.  Then, it happened.

Nick Folk made the onside kick, Sam Hurd tipped it ahead, and Tony Curtis, the Cowboys backup tight end, recovered it to give the Cowboys hope.

After a near catch by Terrell Owens that would've given the Cowboys a chance to win the game with :01 left, Tony Romo completed two short passes to get Nick Folk into FG range.  With :02 left and the game on the line, Nick Folk would be attempting a 53-yard game-winner.  With the Buffalo crowd up on their feet and cheering as loud as they could, Nick Folk calmly nailed the 53-yarder right down the middle to win the game for Dallas.  But wait!  Bills Head Coach Dick Jauron called a timeout right before the snap.  Nick Folk would have to do it again.  The 2nd attempt looked like a carbon-copy of the first one, nailed right down the middle, and this time, the Cowboys won the game!  Buffalo was even offsides on the play too.

"Oh, it's great," Folk said. "It shows you how good we can be and what we can do if we don't make mistakes. And even if we do make mistakes and we stick together as a team, we still stay in the game."

"I haven't been around anything like that, and that's 31 years I've been in the league," Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said of his triumphant return to Buffalo, where he was 29-19 from 1998-2000

The Cowboys never really did establish the running game.  Julius Jones carried the ball 12 times for 41 yards while Marion Barber III ran it 8 times for 28 yards.

Cowboys receivers still had a decent day though, despite Romo's troubles.  Jason Witten had 9 catches for 103 yards and a TD, while Patrick Crayton had 6 catches for 73 yards and a TD.  Marion Barber III had 6 receptions for 45 yards while fullback Deon Anderson caught 4 passes for 39 yards.  Terrell Owens only had 2 catches for 25 yards.

On defense, the Cowboys were stifling once again, only allowing 3 points the whole game.  the other 21 came on 2 INT returns for TD's and a kickoff return for a touchdown.  Terence Newman had the only interception and turnover that the Cowboys forced for the game.  The Dallas defense also recorded 3 sacks, 1.5 from DeMarcus Ware, 1 from Jason Hatcher, and .5 from Jay Ratliff.  The Cowboys also only gave up 229 yards of total offense to Buffalo.

Nick Folk was 4/4 on field goals.  He connected from 47, 29, 37, and the big one from 53 yards out that gave the Cowboys a come-from-behind win in dramatic fashion as time expired that made him the game hero.  He even had to make it twice.

Man what a game!  No Cowboys fan is going to forget about this one for years to come.  An instant classic in my book!  Now we can finally focus on the matchup that we've all been waiting for this Sunday!

HOW 'BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!!

GAME PREVIEW: COWBOYS @ BILLS

Cowboys (4-0) vs. Bills (1-3) Monday, October 8, 7:30 PM CT on ESPN

Week 5 Preview:

The Dallas Cowboys will play their 3rd primetime game Monday Night when they battle the Buffalo Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium.  The Cowboys will be looking for their 1st 5-0 start since 1983 while the Bills will be looking to pull the upset and win their 2nd straight game on the season after beating the New York Jets last week.

While the Cowboys are 4-0 this year at the quarter-pole of the season, they have yet to score a 1st Quarter touchdown, something that the Cowboys know will eventually catch up with them.  The Cowboys must also be aware of yet another "trap" game, and must not look ahead to the game October 14 against the Patriots, or it could possibly cost them.

This game will mark Wade Phillips' first return to Ralph Wilson Stadium since he was head coach of the Bills from 1998-2000.  He was 29-19 during his coaching career in Buffalo, and looks to prove that it was a mistake letting him go.  Look for the Cowboys' defense to be very aggressive early.

That very same Dallas defense will be facing a rookie quarterback in Trent Edwards.  He won his debut 17-14 against the Jets, but will have to face a much more explosive Dallas defense.  The Cowboys' defense will face a good test in trying to stop running back Marshawn Lynch, who has 3 touchdowns in 4 games this season.  However, the Cowboys' defense has only allowed 1 rushing touchdown this season, a 1-yard plunge from Cedric Benson Week 3 in Chicago.  The Bills' offense should be careful passing the ball too, as the Cowboys' defense leads the league with nine interceptions so far this year.

Tony Romo will look to continue his early season success, facing a Bills' defense that has been depleted on defense.  So far this season, Romo has completed 72/121 passes for 1199 yards, 11 TD's, and only 3 interceptions, giving him a 112.9 passer rating.  I guess the big question with this offense is how many points will they put up this week?  Their lowest output of the season was 27 against the Bears (one of th TD's was a defensive TD). The Bills will have their hands full Monday night.

On the injury front, cornerback Terence Newman, (heel and knee) is probable and should assume his starting role again.  Linebacker Greg Ellis (Achilles) is also probable, but will only be used as a specialty pass rusher.  Keith Davis (shoulder), fullback Oliver Hoyte (neck), third-string safety Courtney Brown (biceps), wide receiver Terry Glenn (knee), and starting cornerback Anthony Henry (ankle), are all out.

It's Time For Jerry To Reach Into His Saddle Bags And Pay Romo

Before all is said and done this season, Tony Romo is going to sign the richest deal ever awarded to any player in NFL history.

Every time Romo throws a touchdown, his stock rises by the millions. The Cowboys keep piling up the points, and Tony Romo has taken the team somewhere it hasn't been since 1995, the last time they started the season 4-0.

I believe that Jerry Jones was banking on Tony Romo struggling to begin the season, and thus gain some precious leverage in contract negotiations with his star quarterback. But it all backfired on him. Jerry Jones rolled the dice and it came up snake-eyes. Now it's time to pay the piper.

If Jones cant work out a long-term deal before the end of the season, and there are no on-going talks right now, Romo could be playing for another team in 2008-2009. Even if the team decided to make Romo their non exclusive franchise player, they run the very real risk of losing him to any team willing to part with two first round draft picks. A price that many teams would gladly play for a pro bowl quarterback who has yet to reach his prime.

The Cowboys must avoid that scenario at all costs.

I think the time for posturing has past, and that it's time for Jerry Jones to pony up the big bucks and secure the future of this franchise for the rest of this decade.

Tony Romo has exceeded all of our expectations and has resurrected a franchise that had been floundering.

It is time to reward him for his remarkable leadership, his adrenaline-pumping style of play, and his electrifying game-breaking abilities. Tony Romo is going to bring a Super Bowl trophy back to Dallas this season, and also pave the way for another dominating Cowboys dynasty.

Injury Report: Week 5

Game Status:

Out
S Courtney Brown (Biceps)
WR Terry Glenn (Knee)
CB Anthony Henry (Ankle)

Doubtful
FB Oliver Hoyte (Neck)

Questionable
S Keith Davis (Shoulder)

Probable
LB Greg Ellis (Achilles)
CB Terence Newman (Foot and Knee)

With the temporary loss of the very productive Anthony Henry, we will finally get the chance to see Terence Newman back in his starting role. He had a good practice on Friday and we expect him to have a fairly decent game.

There are reports that Terry Glenn has started the rehab for his knee. If all goes well, he should be ready to play in 4 to 5 weeks.

Keith Davis hasn't practice all week after a shoulder injury that kept him out of last week's game against the Rams. Coach Phillips says Davis has a "50/50" chance of playing and will be a game time decision.

Greg Ellis had an excellent game last week and we expect he will only improve as the season progresses. You will probably only see him in the nickel defense as a pash rusher, until he heals more.

Opportunity Knocks!

And it knocks for the elite in the league! In Cowboy territory, it's knocking hard and loud for the team! The Cowboys know that opportunity doesn't knock for a team every day and I believe they are prepared to answer the door! I'm trying to stay with the team; focused on one game at a time...

BUT THAT'S EASIER SAID THAN DONE!

Around the league, you can hear the faint knocks for individuals. Give a player an opportunity and you'll see them do one of two things; blow up or blow out! It sure makes things exciting! Should I cue the dramatic music now?

Since I'm trying to stay focused on one game at a time, let's just talk about the player stepping up in Buffalo: rookie Trent Edwards.

From FOXSports.com: Like it or not, the Bills might have one (QB controversy) on their hands if rookie Trent Edwards keeps playing the way he did in completing 22 of 28 passes for 234 yards and the winning touchdown against the Jets on a fourth-and-goal play-action pass from the 1-yard-line. ...Levy... knows that Jauron will have the dreaded quarterback controversy on his hands if Edwards plays well and/or beats undefeated Dallas on Monday night.

Notice the word "IF"? Let me tell you... IF I know this, you know the Cowboys know. And IF they know, it's on like Donkey Kong!

The Cowboys meet the Bills in Buffalo on Monday night. This is the Bills first time to host a Monday Night game in more than a dozen years. You know the team and fans will be stoked! I WOULD BE! Monday Night Football is like no other game. Everything about a Monday Night game is different. The only thing I like more than attending MNF is attending a NFC Championship Game! The Monday Night game will be exciting.

It was FANtastic to be at the stadium Sunday afternoon to watch the Cowboys play the Rams. I had a wonderful time and I managed to take some of the coolest pictures! My favorite photo is Romo making a big WHOOPS play into a HURRAY play! I went from "OH NO!" to "WHAT IS HE DOING?" to "RUN FORREST RUN!!" I snapped the picture just as he slipped around the defender.

Do you know how hard it is to hold a camera still while screaming like a mad-man?

I got the biggest kick out of listening to Romo talk about that play after the game. He had everyone rolling around laughing! I LOVED IT! What am I saying, I love everything about Romo! I've been a fan for a couple of years and hated watching him sit the bench. I couldn't be more happy about him leading the team! I love everything about the team this season.

I know I will take some heat for what I'm about to say and that's okay. I understand but I have to say it: I am even starting to love T.O. That is a biggy for me because I have never liked him. When he was playing for those other teams, I would watch the game just to see him get smacked around. Last season, I had a major problem with him. I struggled between wanting to love every player wearing the Cowboy uniform and disliking one of those players so much for so long.

T.O. has made this fan see him in a different light. I'm still not on the T.O. fan-wagon but I am finding myself warming up to him a great deal.

My predictions last weekend went down hill fast. I have some MAJOR catching up to do now. My fantasy teams did great! FINALLY! I play some big dogs this weekend. Wish me luck!! My early projections show I should be able to hold my own.... we'll see!! My early predictions for this week are: Houston, KC, NE, Carolina, NYG, Pitt, Ariz, Tenn, Wash, Indy, Den, Balt, GB, DALLAS!

By the way, did anyone notice the error on INFL's standings page? They have our record right but the streaks says "w3". Every other 4-0 team shows "w4". They need to get it right! We're the only team they messed up on and that makes this fan want to see the undefeated beat right out of some of these other teams! We'll get our chance a week from Sunday! More on that next week!

Ya'll have a good one! Good luck predicting the games and I hope your fantasy teams are fantastic... unless you are head to head with me this weekend! HaHa!

GO COWBOYS!!!

Some Ups And Downs On Defense

After an amazing start to what looked like a Pro Bowl type season, Anthony Henry has suffered a setback. I know an ankle sprain may not seem like a significant injury on the surface, but there are two types of ankle sprains, and the high ankle sprain that Henry suffered is more severe than the other.

Anthony Henry was the team's best defensive player after the first three games of the season. Ironically he was only playing because starting CB Terrence Newman was still a little banged up and could not play. Henry took that opportunity to take the ball and literally run with it. It was his coming out party and Cowboys fans everywhere were absolutely thrilled about their new-found star!

Now that the Cowboy's medical staff have had a couple of days to analyze the results of the x-rays, the team is saying that Henry could miss as much as 4 weeks. Considering that the Cowboys have a bye in week 8, Henry should be ready to play against the Philadelphia Eagles in week nine.

In other news, how about the season debut of Greg Ellis. After finally getting the contract extension he was begging for, he was able to keep his mouth shut, take the field, and deliver an impressive performance against the St. Louis Rams. Even though I'm still mad at the way Ellis chose to handle his contract negotiations by putting down the team and using the press as his pulpit, I am willing to bury the hatchet and move on. Ellis was in on 15 snaps and finished the game with 1 1/2 sacks.

I expect Ellis to get even better as the season rolls along and that can only mean great news for our defense which still seems to struggle at times. So far our offense has surely made some noise with some impressive gains made in our passing and rushing game.

However, in the long run it's the defense that will carry this team once they start facing some stiffer competition. I expect our defense to get better as they get healthier, and by season's end, the Cowboys will have one of the premier defenses in the NFL.
