THE LAST GAME OF THE REGULAR SEASON

Well, here we are - the last game of the regular season. I’ve always hated this week. Another football season close to an end. Just the playoffs and the Super Bowl and then long months without the crunch and groans of football. Sigh. But I digress.

We play the Redskins this week. While we are playing out the season nice and comfy, knowing that our football life continues beyond this week - everybody cheer! - the Redskins need to win or they get to go home and watch us on HDTV.

We will not be playing at full strength. Owens, Gurode, Newman, Ratliff and Watkins are all injured and not expected to play at all. Romo is expected to start but Johnson will get some playing time this week. Wonder of wonders, Glenn may play depending on field conditions. He’s practiced with the first team this week. Did you know that Witten could become the second tight end in NFL history to catch 100 balls in a season? He only needs six catches. That is an amazing feat. I hope he gets it. What a feather in his cap that would be.

As a side note, Crayton got a contract extension last night that will keep him in Dallas a few more years. YEAH! He’s played very well this season and deserves whatever Jerry wants to give him.

I want to wish everyone a bright and special New Year!
