Take the High Road and Pass on Pacman
According to a story published today in the Star-Telegram the chances of the Cowboys getting Pacman Jones are dwindling down.
Jerry Jones said, "I think the longer that it goes, the less likely [it will be done]."
"It's just me trying to be realistic about it, I don't have a feel for it right now."
The Cowboys aren't basing their offseason moves on a trade for Pacman. Jerry Jones simply says adding Pacman would be a "luxury".
So you may ask yourself, what kind of luxury is Pacman Jones? Well (as if its possible), try and look past his insanely repetitive criminal record and check his on-the-field stats.
At the end of 2006, his second season, Jones totaled 62 tackles, one sack, 1 forced fumble, 12 deflected passes, 4 interceptions, 130 return yards, one interception touchdown, 14 passes defended (second-team), 440 punt return yards and tied for NFL-high with 3 punt return touchdowns.
But like I said IF its possible to look past his criminal background, he might be useful to the Cowboys on the field. Personally, I am not one of those people who can look beyond what he has done and if by chance Dallas does acquire him, it will be quite some time before I am able to accept him as a member of my beloved 'Boys.
I would rather look ahead to the draft and give that chance to a fresh new rookie who may be the next shining star of America's Team.

I 100% disagree with you. I think we need to give him ONE last chance to change his ways. I completely understand that what he has done and what he has been a part of (guy being paralyzed)is incomprehensible. However, that is up to the courts to do their part and not up to football. I agree he needs to be on a short leash (actually a shock collar). Pacman will help our team win. Our secondary is not that good. Our d-line makes them look better than what they are. Roy gets burnt to easy and Newman is not the shut down corner we need. Pacman would be a huge bonus. Dont give up the ranch for him but lets find a way to get it done. Furthermore, I do not know what it is but it must be in the water but all "bad" apples seem to flourish in Texas. Maybe I should send my 18 yr. old cousin there to be changed.

I too disagree with you because the days of players signing on and finishing their career with the same team are long gone. The possibly of signing Adam Jones to the team is a huge business decision that Jerry Jones will eventually have to deal with if the Tennessee Titans quit upping the ante, if you’ve been following the scenario that’s exactly what they’ve been doing.
However, I do agree that the Cowboys are not basing their off-season moves on acquiring Adam but don’t be fooled by Jerry down playing the issue, believe me it’s all about the money now a day and if the Cowboys make a deal for Adam’s serves without having to give up too much (Joey Galloway), I guarantee he will be signed. We all understand that drafting a rookie and having him learn the ropes takes time, a prime example is Bobby Carpenter who’s been a Cowboy for two seasons, my point is that the Cowboys as a whole are not getting younger, the time for them to make a Super Bowl run is now and Jerry understands this, he probably sees Adam as the missing piece to the secondary puzzle that hasn’t seen dominance since the emergence of Thurman’s Thieves. Acquiring Adam could possibly mean dusting off the old mantle and making room for the next Lombardi, not to mention new T-shirts ($$) that read, “Got Six?”
Whether we like it or not, we don’t sign the checks nor do we have a say so on who Jerry hires or fires, if that was the case neither Terrell Owens nor Terry Johnson wouldn’t be playing for the Cowboys would they?

One last chance???
The team that drafted him, gave him a $6 million dollar bonus, and is now told him not to contact any of the coaches or teammates gave him 5 chances and that wasnt enough.
He has sunk to a level so low that a 10th round pick is all it would take to get him. In laymans terms that's the equivalent of a bucket of KFC chicken, worse yet... extra crispy.
The argument is so ridiculous because at this point he hasnt even received any reprieve of his suspension from the NFL.
I wish people would start putting more emphasis on character first.

For those of you that have not seen this: Cowboys considerably closer to deal for Pac-Man Jones by Adam Schefter
The on-and-off trade talks between Dallas and Tennessee are on again in a big way.
The Cowboys and Titans spent Saturday going back and forth on proposals, getting considerably closer to a trade that would send talented, but troubled, cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones to Dallas.
One person familiar with the talks said they were nearing a deal, but it was not done yet. However, it now sounds as if it could be done this week, well before the April 26-27 draft.
Just last week, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said talks were at a standstill, but those talks were quickly jumpstarted over the weekend with a series of phone calls between the two teams.
Dallas had been offering one of their two sixth-round picks.
Tennessee has been holding out, refusing to budge for anything less than a fourth-round pick. Plus, Dallas wanted to attach conditions to the trade in which it could receive a draft pick back from Tennessee if Jones got into more trouble in his new city.
Now, the two sides are nearing compromise. The deal could be completed by Tuesday, which also happens to be the time that Jones' agent, Manny Arora, said Jones plans to apply for reinstatement to the NFL.
It was one year ago this past week that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Jones.
Goodell plans to review whether to reinstate Jones shortly before training camp however Arora is likely to push for an even quicker decision.
Should the trade become official, it would not change Dallas' draft strategy in any way. The Cowboys would proceed as if they did not have Jones, as if they still had a need at cornerback, knowing they could not count on Jones to be reinstated.
