Ken Hamlin Finally Signs Long Term Deal
The Dallas Cowboys and Ken Hamlin have come to an agreement on a long term deal. The franchise player will receive $39 million over 6 years. Hamlin excelled last season with 62 tackles (45 solo) and 5 interceptions earning his first trip to the Pro Bowl.
The 27-year old safety began is career in Seattle. He was drafted in the 2nd Round, 42nd overall in the 2003 Draft. After an off-the-field altercation in October 2005, Hamlin was left with a serious head injury and had to watch the remaining games from the sideline.
In March 2007 the Cowboys signed Hamlin to a one-year $2.5 million deal. Following the season, he was tagged the franchise player.
Jerry Jones and Ken Hamlin's agent have gone back and forth with negotiations this off-season. With only hours until the deadline, they finally reached an agreement.
Hamlin has not attended any mini camps, practices, or workouts with the team yet. With training camp only 9 days away, he can now join his team and focus on football.
Ken Hamlin is now a Cowboy for life! Congratulations #26!

I'm just glad that they got it done before training camp....I mean he's already missed a good deal of workouts and most of those workouts are to get to know those new guys in secondary and start getting a feel for one another. Now Hamlin is a great Safety and made the Pro Bowl in his first year with the Boys...I see nothing wrong with the deal. I just hope that he can continue to WOW us with his contributions to the defense like he did last year!
