Texas Stadium

Being raised in Houston, Texas I have to witness the demise of “The 8th Wonder of the World” The Astrodome. When the Houston Oilers went to Tennessee, the only hope was the Houston Astros staying and keeping tradition alive, but they left and went to Enron Field, which turned, into Minute Maid Park. Then one last ray of hope the Houston Texans come. Will they revive the Astrodome? No! They go to Reliant Stadium. What has happened to tradition? I guess it left with team loyalty. Although I must say team, loyalty is getting better.

A lot of sports history happened in the Astrodome. Mickey Mantle was the first player to hit a home run there, it was the first indoor stadium and it was the first sports venue to have artificial turf called “Astroturf”. Those are just a few to mention.

It seems to me that the city of Houston does not care about tradition of its sports teams. I feel the city of Dallas should stand up and keep Texas Stadium as football shrine. For instance, hold a High School Super Bowl, maybe a College Bowl for the city of Dallas. I know we have the Cotton Bowl but that is in October and at Fair Park, after all Ft. Worth has their own college bowl.

On a last note, I say move the name “Texas Stadium” to the new stadium and rename the old stadium something like, The Tom Landry Sports Complex. So, let us keep tradition alive in Dallas and show the rest of the country how Dallas cares about its sports teams’ history.

Let’s Start Cleaning House Now

Ok the Boys had their season end early again. Tony Romo has not won a playoff game and neither has Coach Phillips and I think I know why. After watching the last four games, There is no doubt in my mind that some players should be cut and sent on there merry way. I think Roy Williams, Julius Jones and most of all Andre Gurode.

I think that since the NFL put in the “Roy Williams Rule" (horse collar tackling) Roy Williams has become one of the worst safeties in pro football and he did not look like he was trying to learn to tackle.

Julius Jones is a different story, he has heart and drive but towards the end of the season he looked like he just did not care, but he will be a good asset on the trading block. This leaves us with Andre Gurode. I believe whole-heartedly that because of his performance during the Giants game was a major contribution in the Cowboys loss. This was truly something, you could see, not only was the team getting penalized for false starts you could see the frustration in Romo’s face when the ball wasn’t getting snapped to him.

So Jerry come draft day we need a center that can snap the ball, a safety who can tackle and if you could beef up that offensive line a little more.

How Many Times?

How Many Times?

How many times do we have to beat the NY Giants? I guess 3 times and I guess Green Bay 2 times in Texas Stadium. How many times does T.O. have to tell us to get our popcorn ready? How many times do I have to say Jessica Simpson IS NOT a factor on the outcome of the game? How many times do the fans have to tell Coach Phillips that he should have been starting Marion Barber? You think he might have learned something from the Bledsoe/Romo thing. The Cowboys tried the two running back thing with Tony Dorsett and Hershel Walker (remember the WD-40 Offense?).

I do feel that the Cowboys will be the team we all expect to see play on Sunday. After the Green Bay game, the Cowboys really did not have to prove anything, but now they have something, a chance to get one game closer to Arizona. So let us get our popcorn ready and watch the Giants go down………… AGAIN.

Goodbye Washington!

Well here it is our first round bye. Let us enjoy the rest and see who we are going to play first. I know we do not have to worry about Washington.

I was watching “Inside The NFL” and they showed the Cowboys/Redskins highlights. As usual there was a loud mouth Redskins fan yelling to the Cowboys, “You ain’t no playoff team!” - repeating it over and over. It seems to me that the Cowboys were already in the playoffs, with a home field advantage and a first round bye.

The Redskins were the one’s playing for a wild card spot. While it’s true, they have Shaun Taylor #21 (Rest His Soul) for inspiration, they just don’t realize we have Ron Springs (Get Well Soon) for inspiration.

So who isn’t a playoff team? The Washington Redskins, that’s who!

Enjoy The Playoffs

Let the Playoffs Begin

It will be a short one this week folks. It is the last game of the regular season against the Redskins. Its one of those games that does not mean anything to Cowboys, but the Redskins can gain something.

I am one of those who say rest the starters for the playoffs. I mean if the game means nothing to the Cowboys why take the risk of a starter getting hurt. I would rest Terry Glenn also.

Sometimes you have to think one game ahead. I know everyone wants the Cowboys to win and

I think the second string is capable of beating the Redskin starters. So good luck to the Boys!

Enjoy the playoffs…………Travis

Hey Jessica

Anyone who thinks Jessica Simpson is the reason the cowboys lost last week’s game, needs to purchase the book FOOTBALL FOR DUMMIES. I mean saying Jessica is the reason is like saying Jack Nicholson is the reason the Lakers are losing. I am also wondering how many people out there actually think Tony Romo stops what he is doing on the field to stop and look for Jessica. If there is anyone who thinks that, you are an idiot.

The media starts this crap because they do not have anything else better to write about. You know that the network has people looking in the stands for celebrities. If they spot someone then they jump on it like a dog on a bone. The reason the Cowboys lost was because they did not execute the plays. I also think it was Romo’s thumb not his girlfriend. He may miss T.O., but he does not miss Jason Witten very often. I hope that we can bounce back tonight against the Panthers. In addition, does anyone know where Jessica is sitting? GO COWBOYS

How To Beat Philly And Keyshawn

Well Cowboy fans it is the last home game of the regular season. The Cowboys are 12-1, doing the best I have seen in a long time. While looking at the Cowboys website there was a poll that asked, “What is the biggest key to beating Philly”? A) Fast start on offense. B) No turnovers. C) Pressure McNabb. D) Stop Westbrook. I took the poll. The majority of the people chose “D” I have to agree with them. While not having any turnovers helps the game plan. It seems to me that when Romo and company score first they never seem to look back. (“A” was my second choice) Pressure McNabb? Please, it seems to me he has turned out like Randall Cunningham once they came back from an injury they were not the same. It is as they forgot how to scramble. Therefore, I do not think McNabb will be a factor at all in this game; however, Westbrook to me is the only weapon the Eagles have.

So how do the Cowboys beat Philly? The offense has to score first. The defense has to stop Westbrook and let Philly know they have no chance to win this game. So like T.O. I will have my popcorn ready, along with a broom to watch the Cowboys sweep Philly as they did the Giants and get that first round bye.

As for Keyshawn Johnson, It is clear to me that he is still upset because T.O. replaced him. I heard Keyshawn say something about 28 dropped passes. Well I really get pissed off when people in a position like Keyshawn state a statistic and do not follow it up. Therefore, Mr. Johnson let me correct you on the correct stats. It is true T.O. led the NFL in dropped passes last season. He also led with most catches and the most THROWN to. Now with that said Mr. Johnson you need to have your staff get the stats right before you on national TV and dog the person who replaced you and is doing a better job at it than you did. So T.O. if you read this do not pay any attention to Keyshawn just send him a bag of popcorn and a box of Kleenex.
