Cowboy Fans Know No Offseason

Posted by Shelby K On April - 1 - 2009

Hey! This week has been a blast and it’s not over yet! I have one more thing up my sleeve! We’ll talk about that next week, okay? Cowboy Fans know no offseason! Fans came out by the dozens to rep the Star in a big way!

I will let these two videos tell the story. The first is pictures from the party. The music is provided with permission from my new friends Southern Steel. It’s called “Silver and Blue” and it rocks! Check your volume before hitting the play button. I like it loud!

The second video is me talking about the weekend which, for me, started Thursday night. I mentioned it briefly last week. You’re sure to get a kick out of that!

Our next party for Cowboy Fans in the Big D is the weekend of April 25th: Draft Weekend! We are also making plans for a fish fry and BBQ in June, among other things! I will keep you all posted so you can try to attend!

Enjoy the videos! If you have questions or would like more information about any of this: COMMENT ME!! I’ll comment back!!

Much love to all and

GO COWBOYS!!

Exciting Weekend in Dallas!

Posted by Shelby K On March - 25 - 2009

Hey Cowboy Fans!

I hope this finds you all well. I am going to keep this short and sweet. Your LSS Staff is doing a fantastic job keeping you updated on the latest news on our favorite team and players, as always! Let’s give them a round of applause! Comments is a great way to show appreciation!

This weekend will be a fun weekend to be in Dallas. I’m throwing a party for Cowboy Fans! We are calling it the “We Don’t Need A Tailgate To Party”-Tailgate Party. How fun! When it all started, I was sure the RSVP list would max out at about 10 people. Imagine my surprise when I started helping fans with hotel information and arranging to pick up friends at the airport. Soon, the RSVP list hit 30… then 40… and beyond! WOW! I can hardly wait!

IS IT SATURDAY YET?

Next week, I will have plenty of pics and vids to share. If you’re in DFW or planning to be here Saturday night, let me know! I will find a way to share the information! We have kept the locations a secret to avoid party crashers! Just click on “staff” above for my link.

Also, tomorrow night (Thursday), I will be attending an awesome party! I’m beside myself at the moment and I can hardly wait to go! I don’t want to say much just yet but if you know me, you can imagine what has me so “WoooHoo!” Details on this to also come next week! You will want to stay tuned!

We are planning another party in April for the draft! Make plans now! If you can’t make it to DFW for that weekend, put together a party where you live and send us your pictures! Your Draft Party could appear on LoneStarStruck! fans@lonestarstruck.com Did you notice that LSS is hosting a Draft Chat? That should be fun! Maybe I can find a way to be there, too! Yes, these days people can be in two places at once! Haha!!

As you know, I am a major fan of the Dallas Cowboys. The only thing I love as much is YOU: Cowboy Fans! I have been busy putting fun events together for all of us! The 2009 Schedule comes out in a couple of weeks. Shortly after, we will be making plans for a few Tailgate Parties and spreading the word! We always get an early start on these plans so everyone has a chance to get here!

I will let you get back to your regularly schedule LSS programs now! Visit me here next week when I share details and photos from Thursday night and our 1st 2009 Tailgate Party… minus the tailgate!!

Much love to all!

GO COWBOYS!

A Visit To Our New Home

Posted by Shelby K On March - 18 - 2009

Hey Cowboy Fans!

I had an opportunity to visit the new home of our Dallas Cowboys yesterday. We got up close, personal and INSIDE the current forbidden grounds! Yes! We went in and took a mini tour! I’m still very excited about it; not sure where to start!

First, they are not letting people near this very dangerous construction zone. We had to meet specific criteria. Security is tight and rules abound but it was worth the effort. The new stadium is spectacular, amazing, incredible, massive, beautiful, breath-taking… worthy of our Dallas Cowboys! I never thought I would say that because I was so in love with Texas Stadium but this one is… WOW! This new stadium is so big you can fit four (4) Texas Stadiums and my house inside AND STILL have room left over!

But, I’m getting ahead of myself here…

After making our way through the maze of contstruction zones nearby, passed through security, we found the location where we were instructed to wait in our car until our escort came to us. We didn’t wait long. A happy young man walked out with hard-hats, safety goggles and brightly colored vests. We discussed the rules once more then began to make our way across the parking lot to a door. When our guide opened it, my heart skipped a beat. I was THERE… three steps away! I watched as my husband and Roy stepped inside. The fact that we were in a service hallway at this point was irrelevant; we were finally in!

We made our way through hallways passing workers painting, putting down tiles and a variety of other tasks. Everyone was working hard to meet the deadlines. The sounds of hammers, saws and heavy machinery were a constant reminder of the dangers nearby. One more door opened for us. My eyes adjusted to the change in light to reveal a spectacular view of what will soon be the field, the massive screen hanging above, seats, stands and press boxes. WOW! It took my breath away.

Our guide instructed us to stay under the over-hang to avoid being hit by falling items. There are no words to describe what I could see from this view. For a person who is never at a loss for words, I find myself without the words to express how I felt to be there, what it looked like or even to describe my excitement… Nothing I can say will do it justice. I will let the video below speak for me. We made several stops along our journey inside to see the sights: club areas, a variety of views of the field from different levels. Every step, every view, every sound was amazing!

I hope you enjoy this video. You may want to turn your speakers down a notch. The song will be heavy to many. I can hardly wait to return to the new, unnamed stadium with you – my Cowboy lovin’ friends – to see the first games the Cowboys play!

By the way, if you are interested in season tickets you need to know there are not many left! You may want to make a move very soon! They are making every effort possible to help with the price of the PSL. Some seats do not require a PSL. If you are interested, I may be able to provide contact information and answer many questions.

I look forward to sharing the experience of this new stadium with you very soon! For me, it cannot come soon enough!

Farewell Texas Stadium

Posted by Shelby K On February - 24 - 2009

Hey Cowboy Fans!

I hope this finds you all well. Until a moment ago, my heart was heavy about the Farewell of Texas Stadium. A very dear friend sent a video to me tonight. It was Yogi Berra talking about the end of Yankee Stadium. Now, I’m no Yankee fan but I know who Yogi is and I was touched by his words. I found a great deal of inspiration and strength in this 2 minute video… and I shed a few more tears because he was right.

I realized that I won’t miss this place. It will live on forever through US… the fans. We have priceless memories inside of each of us that, if we think real hard, we can go back to that moment in time and live it over and over again. Soon, we will move into our new home… a home even more worthy of America’s Team; even though we never thought we would see the day that something could replace our beloved Texas Stadium.

During the three days at Farewell Fest, I met fans of all ages that were eager to share the most amazing stories of the Cowboys and Texas Stadium. Thankfully, I was with friends that kept me laughing or I might have spent the weekend in tears! I was having the hardest time with this because as long as I can remember, Texas Stadium and the Dallas Cowboys have been hand in hand. I heard stories of joy and celebration, heart-ache and disappointment… and everything in between. There was one common theme to these stories that was unspoken between us but understood: WE ARE FANS OF THE DALLAS COWBOYS and we will follow them where ever they may go.

The other unspoken theme that I did not realize until I watched this video of Yogi Berra was: Texas Stadium WILL live on forever. While this seems like the end, it is really only the beginning! This move opens doors to us that we had only experienced in our dreams: a Super Bowl in our house, for instance! The idea of this opens the doors to many more dreams like our Dallas Cowboys WINNING a Super Bowl at home and much MUCH more! Like the Dallas Cowboys, we can now enjoy these thoughts that are larger than life in a stadium that can be seen from space!

I am not old enough to remember Texas Stadiums first moments of glory. I have said many times, “Man, I wish I had been there then.” I AM GOING TO GET MY CHANCE!! My children will some day sit down with their grandchildren and say, “Your great-grandma and great-grandpa took me to Texas Stadium when I was your age. They were there the first time the Cowboys played in the stadium in Arlington.”

WOW! I get my chance and SO DO YOU!! Suddenly, I am no longer heart heavy. I am more excited than ever!! So, to my friend that send me the video of Yogi: THANK YOU! Thank you from the bottom of my star-shaped heart! I will not soon forget that through the miles and miles that separate us, you understood what I was going through and knew exactly what I needed to see and hear. Which, of course, reminds me of how lucky I am… HOW LUCKY WE ALL ARE right here, right now… to be FANS OF THE GREATEST NFL TEAM IN THE WORLD!

And, I’m lucky to be friends with the GREATEST FANS of the GREATEST TEAM: America’s Team! For that, I want give each of you a personal THANK YOU! Thank you for allowing me to come into your lives each week. I suddenly feel like the luckiest fan in the world and I hope you do, too.

I’m going to close with two videos I made special for you… My LoneStarStruck family and friends. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed having the opportunity to be in the right place at the right time.

COWBOYS FOR LIFE!!
Shelby

PS. The second video gives you information about where you can see MORE videos from Farewell Fest such as: player interviews, sights and sounds and much much more!

Turn Out the Lights… The Party Is Over

Posted by Shelby K On February - 4 - 2009

OR IS IT??

It’s different for everyone. For some, the party ended in Philly. For
others it ended at the farewell ceremony. For ME? The 2008 season may
be done but the 2009 season started before I could leave the Super Bowl
Party!

While we’re on the subject, how was your Super Bowl Party? Do you have
any interesting stories to share? My friends and I went to the House of
Blues in Dallas for the DFW Big Game Watch Party. Proceeds benefited
the CAN! Academies of DFW. Our hosts were: Randy White, Tony Casillas,
T. Choice and D.Ware.  They had a nice buffet, prizes and vendors. The
hosts were awesome with the fans; signing autographs, taking pictures
and chatting. I had my picture taken with everyone but Choice. I don’t
know how he managed to get away from me a second time! I did get each
of them to autograph my helmet and Ware signed my jersey. You know that
thing is getting framed!! :)

If you haven’t heard, check out the event at Texas Stadium the weekend
of the 20th. I think it would be neat if we could make a big showing! I
found it on the Dallas Cowboys website then received the newsletter. (Sign up for that! It’s great!) Check it out and
let me know if you can make it!

So, which Super Bowl commercials were your favorites? Were there any
you could do without? I’m not going to give my opinion just yet. I will
put that in a comment later. I will say this: my favorite is
“Generations”.  Of course, I’m a big fan of all of Budweiser’s Super
Bowl commercials.

Before I go, I want to remind you that Valentine’s Day is around the corner!
Start planning for your sweetie now!

Next week, we will revisit Marty B TV, I will have pictures
to share and hopefully we are making progress on plans for the weekend
of the 20th! Plus, I should have information about an exciting
opportunity for ALL Cowboy Fans!

As our friend Roy says, “COWBOYS RULE!!”

See ya next week!

Where Will You Be On Super Bowl Sunday?

Posted by Shelby K On January - 28 - 2009

Hey Cowboy Fans!!

I hope this finds you all well! I would first like to start by saying: I am so excited to be back with you every Hump Day! I have adjusted my schedule so you will be seeing me around more often! I have missed having time to be here every week!

So, here we are at the foot of Super Bowl Sunday!! Whether your team is in the Super Bowl or not, it is still a big weekend for NFL fans. Do you have Super Bowl traditions? Plans? Super Bowl party games? My friends and I will be heading over to the House of Blues in Dallas to watch the game with D.Ware, R. White, T. Choice and T. Casillas. As always, I will take a ton of pictures. Video, too, if I can swing it! I will share it all here next week! If you’re interested in more information about this event, go to: www.DFWbigGAME.com

Since my friends and I are rooting for Arizona, our games revolve around Spittsburgh Squealers. We are not allowed to use their actual name OR ELSE!! HAHA!! This could be fun… especially around the 3rd quarter or so! LOL!

GO ARIZONA!!

On the 20th, my buddy, John and I went to Lunch with a Legend at Sullivan’s Steakhouse in Dallas. We managed to get excellent seats for the Michael Irvin Show with guest: Troy Aikman. The things Troy said that day made big news. I’m sure you have heard about it by now and you have an opinion! John and I had a lot of fun. We met some awesome people, had a great meal and got Mr. Irvin’s autograph! It was GREAT!! They do this Lunch with a Legend about once a month! If you’re in the metroplex or planning to visit soon, I highly recommend events like Lunch with a Legend!

As the complete NFL season comes to an end, I would like to give send some shouts to some peeps that helped make the season so memoriable and fun. Of course, this site, LoneStarStruck, is TOPS on my list!! I stop by every day for the latest articles and graphics!! To my friends at CNS: I love you guys… BIG TIME! You’re an absolute blast. I can hardly wait for the chance to hang with you again… luggage carts and all!! Of course, we may need more luggage carts in 2009! So many inside jokes… so little time!

MySpacers & Youtubers: You guys are so creative and fun. I cherish our friendship and hope all of you can make it to at least one event with us this coming season! To my local friends: I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to spend time with when our Boys are on the road. Thank you so much for the invitations and for all you did for CNS in December! Their party was a HUGE success because of people like you! Thank you! Last but certainly not least, my hubby (aka: my BFF): season after season, he deals with my crazy ways without complaint. I am looking forward to celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary on Valentine’s Day… and many more!! Thank you for the awesome anniversary gift: season tickets at the new stadium in Arlington!

I hope you all enjoy the big game on Sunday! Next week, we will talk about our favorite commercials, the event at the House of Blues and much much more! Remember, you can send your pictures and stories to: fans@lonestarstruck.com

Texas Stadium Farewell Season

Posted by Shelby K On December - 23 - 2008

I wanted to stop by and drop everyone a quick note. I can’t say enough about the season we all said farewell to Texas Stadium. I will let the video below tell my story from start to finish. I realize it is a long video but it does take us from the Open Practice in August through to the final season game at Texas Stadium…

I also wanted to wish you all a safe and wonderful holiday season.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!

GO COWBOYS!!

We are # 1

Posted by Shelby K On October - 22 - 2008

One of the many things I love about the Cowboys is I am sure to get my money’s worth all year long! I enjoy this roller coaster ride of bye week vacations, spring training, trouble or… ? One of the things I love about YOU, the fans is your passion. I watch all the shows and surfed all the sites. I know what the media says about us and our team… We’re on the “Best Fans” top 10 list but well below where one might think.

As you know, I love fans. I talk to fans across the US regularly. Not just Cowboys fans but fans for every team and I know what they say, too! As far as I’m concerned, that opinion is the one that matters. WE – are #1 – just like our favorite team! We stick with our team year after year: DO OR DIE! It’s the thrill of victory on the edge of our seats constant drama and more that captivates us year after year.

In the real world, I spend most of my time motivating others to set and accomplish goals. One of the things I teach them is to keep records and review the records from when they had that kind of success. So, after work, I spent some time surfing and watching video from the days we enjoyed most. For me, that’s mostly the ’90s. I was fascinated by the team lead by what is now known as “The Triplets”.

No matter what your favorite era, it’s not easy to remember and want it again so much for so long. Knowing that you’ve come close, oh so very close… To be left with “Next year”

The difference between our favorite time and now?

WE – LOVED – THEM

We still do. No matter who your ‘All Time Favorite’ is or when they played – you still do. Your heart aches a little because that person no longer plays.  And here we are today, THIS season with the Cowboys: right here – right now.  Do we LOVE this team?

I dropped my beef with T.O. I even own a jersey now. I did not do it because he earned it or deserved it. It was not done for me because I was perfectly happy feeling the way I did about the whole situation. I let it go for the team.

What is going to get them through? What is going to bring this team together? Get them healthy? OUR LOVE!! OUR SUPPORT!! OUR VOICE!! It’s YOU Cowboys fans YOU!! You will be the motivation they need! GET LOUD MY PROUD COWBOYS FRIENDS!! GET LOUD!!!  I wanna see your STAR!! This website has some awesome graphics! That’s always a great start! It’s up to US to show them we care and we WANT IT FOR THEM!

It’s up to us to believe when it seems no one else will… Yes, I watch all the shows, vids and I read the articles. I know what they are saying and I know you know what I’m saying *wink*

BELIEVE!!

Go Cowboys!
Shelby

I love me some Cowboys…

Posted by Shelby K On September - 16 - 2008

And I love THE FANS!!

I had a fantastic weekend! I hope you did, too! The big W was my icing for the cake! For me, the weekend started Saturday night. As Ike moved out of the Metroplex, I was on the move trying to find THE FANS! Not just any group of fans but people many of you know that blew in just before Ike did! We got there as fast as we could for a meet and greet. After a while, we made our way to Hurricane Bar! What an awesome place! We had a blast there!

Saturday, we met in Grapevine at a sports bar called Cutie Pies. We stayed ALL DAY! When I left, they were STILL having a good time! We met up again Monday night for the fun at a tailgate. I’ll let the pictures tell the story… There are no words to describe how much fun we had and how many great people we met!

To the fans – YOU GUYS BROUGHT IT!! My ears are STILL ringing and my voice is officially GONE. I may not see it again for two weeks and it was SO WORTH IT. I would do it all again in a split minute… just not today. When you don’t drink all weekend but end it feeling hung over, you know you did it right!!

To Mosh & the CNS Crew – You guys SO TOTALLY rock! I am so glad I got to meet you and if you’re ever back in my neck of the woods, HIT ME UP! I had THE BEST time with you & I’m looking forward to doing it again! Thank you SO MUCH for including me in the fun! I hope Dallas was good to you and you made it home safe! Keep in touch, okay?

To the Cowboys – WAY TO GO!! Your win was the perfect end to my long and exciting weekend!

Enjoy the slide-show everyone! See you next Wednesday!!
GO COWBOYS!!! Wooooooo!!

Ps. You’ll see my MVF’s – Most Valuable Fans! I give the Most Valuable Fan of the Tailgate to Mr. Bigg. He was full of great ideas and was having a great time. He has a way of making everyone feel comfortable and welcome! Thank you, Mr. Bigg.

My MVF of the weekend went to my husband! He was so cool about me and my crazy self doing my thang ALL WEEKEND and the first one to say, “Girl, THAT’S 2 COOL!”, when I had a WHOA! DID THAT JUST HAPPEN moment! Love ya, Hubby! By the way, check out his jersey in the pics from the tailgate party! That’s from MOSH!! You guys GOTTA check out Mosh’s jerseys and stuff, okay?!

The Last MNF at Texas Stadium

Posted by Shelby K On September - 10 - 2008

I want to warn you in advance that I am likely to be all over the place during this blog. I have so much to say! I missed being here with you last week! I was working like crazy to get a 4 day weekend for the holiday!!

Eagles vs Cowboys at Texas Stadium for football on a Monday night – of course!!

I may need that extra day to recover, ya know? I hope to run into some awesome fans this weekend! By the way, did you see the article about NFL Fans. They said Cowboys fans were ranked 10th. You’re kidding me, right? It’s time we get LOUD AND PROUD my friends! Together, we’ll show them what 10th looks like, okay!

Remember DEFENSE!! We are part of the DEFENSE!!

Seriously, the fans play a big roll in a home game. I mean, it’s called “Home Field Advantage” for a reason, right? That refers partly to US – THE FANS!! Break out the horns and noise makers or some of the kids annoying toys. LET’S MAKE SOME NOISE!!!!

I CAN’T HEAR YOU!!!

I’m excited about our Cowboys!! They looked good, huh? I can hardly wait for Monday Night! I hope to see you there! PLUCK THE EAGLES!! You’re going, right? It’s the last Monday Night game in Texas Stadium. It’s the last first game of the season in the stadium. It’s one of the first of many lasts for all of us. We should make the most of every moment!

Last and certainly not least, a personal note:

My heart and mind is on tomorrow. As you may already know, I am an optimist. I believe there is good in anything. Sometimes it is hard to find the good and sometimes it takes years to discover the positives… I have come to the conclusion that September 11th is a day that connects each of us on a human level. I am thankful. I will truly never forget.

Much love to you all
and
GO COWBOYS!

Shelby
