Representing The Star On Facebook

If you are like me, you get a lot of your news and updates on Facebook. I would like to share with you some of my favorite Cowboys pages. These pages are pretty cool because they share their own perspectives and something unique that you can’t get from the corporate sites (which don’t get me wrong, you should follow as well.)

These guys are the grassroots of the Cowboys social community. We are proud to call them friends and value their opinions.

Here are a few of my favs:

Lone Star Struck –

Can I share your stuff? Yes, and you should.

You’d be surprised how often we get asked this question.  In fact, we have a handful of questions we get asked.

We wanted to point out that we do this (the website, the articles, the fan art) because we love the Dallas Cowboys.  Can you share our fan art with your friends and family? Of course!

Hell, share EVERYTHING.

Just don’t remove our name from the artwork.  You know, give credit where credit is due.  This is a labor of love.  We work hard on these articles, graphics, and the like.

So, when you see that flashy, cool, and fresh LSS graphic that the one and only Kelly posted up, don’t feel guilty about sharing it.  Go on, try it.  It’ll feel good.

New Design, New Purpose…

As Coach Garrett would say, “It’s been a helluva year.”  There can’t be more truth to this.  Kelly and I took our son this past summer to Disney World.  It was an amazing trip.  Then, in October, we went to Las Vegas and made it official:  Kelly and I got married.

Went to Disney World, Went to Las Vegas, Got Married…You know, the usual.

This year wasn’t just great for those things, I mean, HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS, right?!  We’re going into the playoffs.  Records are being broken.  We really have a new set of triplets.

New Triplets

New Triplets

It really has been a banner year for our Boys and Lone Star Struck as well.  We’ve kept up with our Facebook fans (which really has been the meat and potatoes) of all that Lone Star Struck is the most; however, with many of the writers that used to blog for us no longer with us, the website hasn’t really been high in our priorities.  As a result, it was neglected, for the most part.

With the Cowboys surprising everyone (even the haters, though they hate to admit it), it inspired us to take a second look at  We wanted to give it a new look and a new purpose.

Haters gonna hate...

Haters gonna hate…

We wanted to make the site more design-centric and put Kelly’s artwork in the forefront, while still giving a nod to Lone Star Struck’s yesteryear and featuring the writings of all of the people that have etched their thoughts into our history.

This is why, on the homepage, you’re greeted with a wall of art.  Keep scrolling and you will find a countdown to the next game, tidbits of new stuff from the gallery, and a section to read new articles when we blog.  The homepage will change periodically, so make sure you check back.

Look at all the pretty pictures!

From the technical standpoint, our website is fully responsive and looks good on all screen sizes.  You can easily share fresh LSS graphics on the go from your phone or tablet.

We won’t tell anyone if you are browsing LSS at work.

We’ve also switched to new hosting.  Lone Star Struck should be snappier.

Lone Star Struck looks good on all devices

While our new look is design-centric, we don’t want to leave the blog behind.  We are looking for more writers to share their thoughts about the Dallas Cowboys.

If you’re interested in writing for us, you should check out the link below.

No doubt, it’s been a helluva year.  We’re hitting the ground running into the New Year and 2015 will be just as awesome.  We hope you will be a part of it with us.

Have a Happy New Year!  Be safe!

Happy New Year 2015

If you’ve been following Lone Star Struck you already know we love to make graphics and share them on the web, if you are new to the site we welcome you to our “fanatical place”. As a graphic designer who is also very passionate about the Cowboys, it makes me so happy to share my artwork with other fans.

I’m excited to announce that our newly designed website has a dedicated art gallery for your viewing pleasure.

Responsive isn’t just about responding

I don’t just mean making sure that we respond to comments or awesome Dallas Cowboys events with even awesomer (like that?) graphics.  Responsive web design means that our site changes shape to make sure it looks good in all screen sizes.

This means that no matter where you are, on the go, at work, or at home, you can see our site and be able to use it just fine.  Happy browsing!

Happy Independence Day

4th of July 2013

It’s that time of the year again where we celebrate the birth of an idea, an ideal, and the greatest nation in the world.

While we enjoy all the grilling and all the fireworks with our friends and families today, let’s remember all the sacrifices that were made to make this celebration of freedom possible.

Thanks to all the service men and women who keep freedom ringing for all of us both at home and abroad.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness don’t come cheap…

Happy 4th of July to everyone.

Lone Star Struck joins Google Sports Network

I just wanted to share with our fans some pretty cool news.  First, it’s not everyday you get an email from a Google employee about a pretty awesome opportunity.  Google contacted us in regards to a recent partnership with the NFL to engage fans even better than before.  They created the Google Sports Network so that Google can reach out to sites like us for opinions and other fan-related stuff.  Right now, we are the ONLY FANSITE that represents the Dallas Cowboys within the Google Sports Network.  From the discussions I’ve had with Google, we were essentially hand-picked.

Like I said, you don’t get an email from Google and pass up an opportunity like this.  What we will be doing is beefing up our Google+ (Google Plus) usage and eventually will be starting a Google Plus hangouts as well.  If you are already on Google Plus and have us added to your circles, great.  Share us with your friends!  If you haven’t added us yet or haven’t checked out Google Plus, you definitely should.

New LSS Writer: Coalter Thornton

Hello fellow Dallas Cowboy fans. I am a new addition to the writers here on Lone Star Struck. My goal as a writer is to give Dallas Cowboy loyalists articles that illustrate my take on the players, coaches, and events that surround our team.      I am privileged to be part of the greatest fan base in sports and hope to contribute insightful articles to the community.

Despite our recent lack of playoff success, we do have a legacy that rivals any team in the NFL. This is why I think that the team, this year, will do something great. We have a great core of skill players, a passionate young coach, and a General Manager who has three Superbowls managing this team. We have a quarterback, Tony Romo, that is almost always in the top ten among his position in yards and touchdowns. The running back has the potential to be our best since Emmitt Smith, with his combination of piston legs, and a stiff arm that rivals Tyson’s right hook. The receiving core has as many weapons as Borderlands 2, and more speed than the next “Fast and Furious” movie.  Our pass defense has revamped from a cheese wedge full of holes for offenses to attack, to a wall of hands, deflecting passes like my mother slapping my wrist away from the last piece of cherry pie. Demarcus Ware is still the sack machine, and with Jay Ratliff back, he should only increase his numbers.

We are the fans of “Americas Team,” so no matter what the outcome of the game on Sunday is, keep hope and continue to support our players and coaches.

Happy Veteran’s Day From LSS
