Cowboys End Playoff Drought; Dominate Eagles 34 – 14

As the final seconds of the game tick away, and I watch Tony Romo walk off the field I notice something very interesting. The monkey is gone! The Dallas Cowboys have finally ended their prolonged 13 year playoff drought. Not only did they end this drought with a win over a rival team in the NFC East, They ended it with one of the most dominating performances ever put on in the playoffs.

Tony Romo was once again at the top of his game putting on a clinic for the fans to see. Picking apart the eagles defense, converting 3rd long like it was 3rd and inches. Throwing 23/35 passes for 244 yards 2 touchdowns and no interceptions, thanks to Wade Phillips for what could be considered the best coaching move he has made as a head coach for the Dallas Cowboys and challenging what at first seemed to be an amazing interception. Romo proved once again, give him time in the pocket and he will pick apart a defense.

Just as the last 2 meetings in the regular season against the Eagles, the Dallas running game was unstoppable. Dallas rushed for a total 198 yards on 35 carries between our 3 top running backs. With Felix Jones leading the way with a 73 yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter and putting the final nail in the coffin of the Eagles.

I wrote an article a couple months back about when the game was fun and how if we could get back to remembering it was fun to play the game, and then the wins would come. I mention that previous article because the way that the defense is playing and not letting the opponents come anywhere close to clicking and getting any kind of rhythm, The offense has fun while on the field. Think back to when Romo threw that little 6 yard screen touchdown pass to Miles Austin. When they showed Romo running down to congratulate Austin, Romo reached over and gave the Ref a “man” pat as he ran by him. Romo had the biggest smile on his face he has had all season. THAT is having fun. THAT is what we need.

What to say about our defense. I could mention what this player and that player did. How this player got a sack or that player made a great deflection. However, it was a total team defense that made this game possible. It was whole defense that made plays; it was every player on the field at any time doing exactly what they had to do to make things happen. Did any one player “stand” out? Of course they did, matter of fact a couple of different players stood out. But that does not mean the other players did not “play their roll”. It was a total TEAM effort.

Congratulations to the Dallas Cowboys for ending their playoff drought. Let’s go out and get another win next week against the Minnesota Vikings and continue our run to the Super Bowl!!!!!

GO COWBOYS!!!!!!!

Where Will You Be On Super Bowl Sunday?

Hey Cowboy Fans!!

I hope this finds you all well! I would first like to start by saying: I am so excited to be back with you every Hump Day! I have adjusted my schedule so you will be seeing me around more often! I have missed having time to be here every week!

So, here we are at the foot of Super Bowl Sunday!! Whether your team is in the Super Bowl or not, it is still a big weekend for NFL fans. Do you have Super Bowl traditions? Plans? Super Bowl party games? My friends and I will be heading over to the House of Blues in Dallas to watch the game with D.Ware, R. White, T. Choice and T. Casillas. As always, I will take a ton of pictures. Video, too, if I can swing it! I will share it all here next week! If you’re interested in more information about this event, go to: www.DFWbigGAME.com

Since my friends and I are rooting for Arizona, our games revolve around Spittsburgh Squealers. We are not allowed to use their actual name OR ELSE!! HAHA!! This could be fun… especially around the 3rd quarter or so! LOL!

GO ARIZONA!!

On the 20th, my buddy, John and I went to Lunch with a Legend at Sullivan’s Steakhouse in Dallas. We managed to get excellent seats for the Michael Irvin Show with guest: Troy Aikman. The things Troy said that day made big news. I’m sure you have heard about it by now and you have an opinion! John and I had a lot of fun. We met some awesome people, had a great meal and got Mr. Irvin’s autograph! It was GREAT!! They do this Lunch with a Legend about once a month! If you’re in the metroplex or planning to visit soon, I highly recommend events like Lunch with a Legend!

As the complete NFL season comes to an end, I would like to give send some shouts to some peeps that helped make the season so memoriable and fun. Of course, this site, LoneStarStruck, is TOPS on my list!! I stop by every day for the latest articles and graphics!! To my friends at CNS: I love you guys… BIG TIME! You’re an absolute blast. I can hardly wait for the chance to hang with you again… luggage carts and all!! Of course, we may need more luggage carts in 2009! So many inside jokes… so little time!

MySpacers & Youtubers: You guys are so creative and fun. I cherish our friendship and hope all of you can make it to at least one event with us this coming season! To my local friends: I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to spend time with when our Boys are on the road. Thank you so much for the invitations and for all you did for CNS in December! Their party was a HUGE success because of people like you! Thank you! Last but certainly not least, my hubby (aka: my BFF): season after season, he deals with my crazy ways without complaint. I am looking forward to celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary on Valentine’s Day… and many more!! Thank you for the awesome anniversary gift: season tickets at the new stadium in Arlington!

I hope you all enjoy the big game on Sunday! Next week, we will talk about our favorite commercials, the event at the House of Blues and much much more! Remember, you can send your pictures and stories to: fans@lonestarstruck.com

COWBOYS FOR LIFE!!

Playing Not To Lose Instead Of Playing To WIN!!!

Yesterdays loss against the Steelers hurts. It hurts on so many levels. The Defense was outstanding. I have never been prouder than what the defense did yesterday. They dominated the whole game but the defense can’t do it all folks. They are not at that level yet. The Steelers did not impress me at all. Thats why it’s so hard to take this loss and I take it personal.

The loss yesterday felt worse to me than the loss to the Giants in the playoffs last year. Going into the 4rth quarter, I had all but started celebrating going 9-4 into the Giants game this coming week. So where did it all go wrong? Was it when Newman got burned on that 47 yard pass to Holmes? Or was it early in the 3rd quarter when Romo had Williams open in the end zone but didnt see him until it was too late? No, it was none of those individual plays. We lost the game midway through the 3rd quarter. Garrett started calling plays to try and run out the clock instead of stabbing the wounded Steelers in the heart and going for the kill. Ever heard the saying, “Play not to lose the game instead of playing to win?” Well thats where we lost the game yesterday. We fell right into that situation.

Last year people would say that the Dallas Cowboys lacked that killer instinct to close out games. We never go for the knock out punch. Thats what is exactley is wrong with Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett. They will never calls plays to slit the throat of a wounded horse. Thats why these Dallas Cowboys are called soft. Thats why Aikman reiterated to all Cowboy fans in the land that this team wasnt tough up until today.  Don’t get me wrong guys, the Cowboys defense play outstanding as I stated before. I give them an A + to the tenth power for their gutsy performance yesterday at Heinz field. The Steelers simply stole one from us or we gave it to them. The Steelers did not out perform the Boys yesterday. The offense just self destructed. The conservative play calling going late into the 3rd quarter is what lost us the game. Garrett, for all his wisdom, decided that 10 points was enough to put away the Steelers leading 13-3 going into the 3rd. We were moving the ball with ease at the begining of the 3rd quarter and scored 10 unanswered points. Then it all went to crap.

I can sit here all night and write that we should of done this and we should of done that but in the end, its not gonna change the fact that we lost that game yesterday. Wade Phillips style of head coaching is too soft, too gentle. Garrett’s sometime questionable play-calling comes into question as well. It makes you wonder if Ernie Zampese didn’t rub off on Garrett too much in the 90’s. Garrett has to understand that Romo is no Aikman and Choice is no Emmitt. Different players and different styles. We lost cause we relaxed. We lost because the defense was out there way too much. I dont blame Romo for yesterdays loss. I dont blame any single one player as well. I blame the head coaching and the offensive coaching style for yesterday’s loss. We lack the killer punch out. We lack that killer instinct. By all accounts we should be 9-4 right now.  The great Emmitt Smith as well called this team mediocre this past week. The way the offense played yesterday looks like Phillips and Garrett ate those words.

2-0 Not Bad Cowboys….Not Bad

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the long layoff first of all. Started a new job and been trying to finish up some more Cowboy Graphics I have been doing. I would just like to give you guys my perspective on how things have been materializing for the boys from Fredooch’s point of view for the first 2 games.

First off, The offense looks great. Romo looks like he is in mid-season form and T.O. looks like he has actually gained a step. Marion is still running hard and Felix Jones looks like the steal of the draft so far…Mendenhall who? Witten looks like he is on his way to another pro bowl and Terry Glenn has not been missed so far. As far as the defense goes, it looked great against Cleveland and seemed to disappear for 3 quarters on Monday night. Pacman still looks like he is shaking off some rust and Greg Ellis and Demarcus Ware look like beasts.

If I had to grade the Cowboys so far, I would give them a B. The Offense gets an A with the defense getting a C+. I know some of you guys will not agree with me on this one but I am just giving it from a non-bias persective. I hope the defense really steps up and has all the talent in the world to do so. I am sure they will be on par with the offense sooner or later.

Also, I will be attending the Dallas Cowboys home game on October 26 against Tampa Bay. I recently bought a $1000.00 camera just for the occassion and a 4 gigabyte memory card just for that specific event. I hope I get to meet some of you native Dallas fans there. Hit me up with an email.

On to this Sunday night against Green Bay. In all honesty guys, Green Bay does not make me nervous at the very least. Sure, they have a good young quaterback in Aaron Rodgers and some descent cornerbacks but I believe Dallas will win this one by the 3rd quarter. There is just way too much talent on offense with us and they can’t contain us for 4 quarters. Dalas wins this one 34-17. Romo should go 3 straight games with 300 yards and Witten should have another big night. Speaking of Witten, that guy is a warrior. He had a slightly seperated shoulder and was still able to take over the game in the middle of the field against the Sheagles. Witten won my total respect Monday night. Its not like he didnt have it to begin with. If the Boys can muster a W this Sunday night, I honestly believe they can go 7-0 all the way leading up to the November 2nd meeting against the Giants. The Boys play the Deadskins, Bengals, Cardinals, Rams and Bucs, in that order next. All those games are winnable. At the same time we shouldnt really get ahead of ourselves but I wouldn’t be surprised the boys are the only undefeated team come Week 8 of the NFL season.

I am still nervous about our recieving corps. I hate to think what would happen if Owens went down, Knock on wood! I still believe Jerry Jones needs to trade or acquire another veteran reciever to compliment Owens on a more broader scale than Crayton does. Hopefully will will go through the wholw season with a healthy Owens but Jerry has to have a back-up plan to prepare for the worse.

I have created about 6 new Dallas Cowboys graphics since the season started. I know some of you guys appreciate the fact that Kelly, Tiffany, I and some other Satffers here on StarStruck create graphics for all Dallas Cowboys fans everywhere and I’m sure all of us here appreciate you guys for it. It was funny, but the other day I had a business meeting at a place of business and I noticed that one of my graphics that I had created was plastered on someone’s desktop at that place of business. I was so surprised and dumbfounded by it so I will continue to create some more. Anyways, check out my myspace page at www.myspace.com/fredooch and tell me what you think. Send me a friend request as well. In any case, thats all I have for tonight guys, Talk to you all later soon. Fredooch!
