Finally, Ware Gets His Money!

The Cowboys are making the announcement in a press conference as I type this, the DeMarcus Ware deal is done!

Cowboys fans around the nation celebrate!!

Nick Eatman reports on his blog:

While the Cowboys are expected to announce the contract extension of DeMarcus Ware here at 4:30, it’s believed the outside linebacker will receive $40 million guaranteed over the six-year extension that will keep him with the Cowboys through 2015.

Overall, the deal is expected to be $78 million, averaging right at $13 million per season.

Six Receivers?

Ogletree Touchdown

Well it looks as if there is a slim possibility that the Cowboys could keep six, yes six, wide receivers on the roster. Right now with injuries to the Roy Williams, Sam Hurd, and Isaiah Stanback, it looks as though Kevin Ogletree will make the roster.

With Patrick Crayton as the number two receiver that would make six on the roster.

However, it will be tough to keep six, so that means Stanback may be cut soon. Stanback has been injured for most of the time that he has been with the Cowboys, so it would make sense to go ahead and cut bait.

I said this in my first blog this year and I stand by it, he should have been released two years ago. Why the Cowboys have tried to hang on I do not know.

Anyway, if Ogletree makes the team, that would be great since he has shown a lot of great things in the pre-season.

We shall see what happens, but it looks like Ogletree has beat out all others trying to get a spot.

What Team Do We Hate The Most?

What team do we hate the most?  The Redskins, Eagles, Giants, or some other team? After my last blog was ambushed by an Eagles fan it made me wonder what team do we dislike the most? I have contemplated back and forth of which team. Maybe all of them (just kidding). In my opinion, I say the Washington Redskins.

The Washington Redskins have been our rival from the beginning. Over a song. Every game we play against them is intense. Plus I think Redskins fans are obnoxious. Last year the Deadskins got a cheap win. They missed a field goal when the judges called it good. I dont know if that changed the season outcome or not, but the win-loss record would have been changed and the Eagles game wouldn’t have mattered.

Speaking of the Phliadelphia Eagles… I cant stand them either. I will make this short with them. When you win even just ONE ring then we will talk. Till then shut up and hope your team does well this year without a good defense.

The New York Football Giants… I really don’t have too much of a big beef against them. I will admit they are a talented group, but Eli looks like a poster child for retardation, the way he holds his mouth open. My girlfriend and I make fun of him and the way he looks. Two years ago when they won the Super Bowl, that was a hard year. The Cowboys being 13-3 going into the Giants game. If we could learn how to tackle the outcome would have been different. I keep replaying in my mind the missed tackle of Plaxico. You know which one I am talking about. Also the dropped pass to Crayton. Oh well, that was 2 years ago.

Then there are other teams. Pittsburgh, since they have 6 rings now. Or maybe the Patriots, with Brady back now watch out for them. Are there other teams I left out? Yeah, I did. But if it comes down to it, the Redskins I can’t stand.

When my little bundle of joy is born, I have an onesie that will say, “I have been just been born and I already hate the Redskins” – very funny. Until then – How ’bout them Cowboys!

Bad Joke??

Why does the media like to use the Cowboys as a bad joke? I am a Cubs fan, that team is in something of a funk. I was watching SportsCenter this morning when they were talking about the Cubs and their turmoil. The line that the broadcaster said was, ” The Cubs are the Dallas Cowboys of MLB.” I did not like that statement. Just because the team had some “problems” of their own. Every media outlet, or most of them, badmouth the Cowboys. I just would like to remind them the Cowboys still had a winning record. No the Cowboys didn’t make the playoffs, but at least we gave it a try.

The Cubs are nothing like the Cowboys. I love the Cubs but they continuously lose every year. That’s why they are called the lovable losers. I have been trying to ignore the media about the Cowboys but this one irked me. The Cowboys are champions! So, what they haven’t won a playoff game in years. But they at least give good runs toward the playoffs.

Don’t get me wrong I am not defending the Cowboys for losing seasons. I want them to win every single year as much as the next Cowboys fan. Maybe this blog is similar to the Are We Spoiled as Cowboys Fans blog that I wrote. But I’ve taken this in a different direction. I am proud to be a Cowboys fan. This year we we will shut up all the critics and they fans that badmouthed my team.

Another quick story before I am done for the day. I work in a small town Emergency Room. Everyone there knows I am a die-hard Cowboys fan. I get harassed constantly in Chicago Bear Country. One of our ER doctors is from Philly and you guessed it – an Eagles fan. I only see him once in a while. The other day he harassed me about the whipping we received at the hand of his beloved Eagles. Then about 10 minutes later he walked by me and noticed my watch, Cowboys of course. He started to say something about the Eagles are tough and the Cowboys are nothing. But my quick little comeback was, ” At least, my Cowboys own 5 rings, how many does the Eagles have?” Never bothered me again for the rest of the night. Go Cowboys!

Sure, It wasn’t pretty…

,,, but we got what we wanted – THE WIN!!

Yes. It was a closer game than it should have been. Yes, there were some things each of us feel need addressed. Bottom line, we added to the win column and we have every reason to be EXCITED!!

Below is a quick video I put together. These are pictures my husband and I took while we were there. I hope you enjoy it! There are a couple of photos I liked A LOT! I’m sure you will, too!

This weekend, the Cowboys are on the road. I am meeting Cowboy fans for a watch party at Duke’s in Bedford, Texas – AND YOU’RE INVITED!! For those of you that can’t make it, you know you can count on me to share the story and photos! Don’t forget to send pictures of your Cowboys Tailgate or Watch Party to me at:   -If you can get them to me before Wednesday morning, I will include them in my next blog! Y’all know iLove me some Cowboys and iLove their fans!! AND THAT MEANS YOU!!

Because of a seasonal allergies, I need to let this post resemble me: short & sweet. *giggle* By this time tomorrow, I’ll be back to being LOUD & PROUD which means this time next week – HOLD ONTO YOUR HATS!! hehe!

Y’all have an awesome week! I’ll see you again on Wednesday!

Hard Knocks Knockout

Well, I just finished watching the season premiere of Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Dallas Cowboys, and I am blown away. I had extrememly high expectations and they were exceeded. HBO and NFL Films showed once again why they are the top of their respective classes. I know this is not the most expansive blog but I have to take a quick nap so I can wake up and watch it again at midnight! My favorite was the end. “Romo plays with swagger, Witten plays with swagger, TO plays with swagger, that’s confidence, and if you don’t have it, then show yourself to the door!” I got confidence. Confidence that we will be the last team standing come February. Go ‘Boys!

Cowboy Bill’s Draft Rant

I’m sure this blog will be frowned on by some but I have to be honest. I was disappointed with this years draft class. I’m not saying these players aren’t talented by any means. I just feel Jerry Jones squandered the two picks he had in the first round.

This what I was hoping Jones would’ve done:

1. Trade up in order to be in position to draft Leodis McKelvin from Troy. He’s the best CB coming out this year. Plus he’s a good kick returner. Plus, he’s from Troy!

How would they manage to trade up you ask? Give up 22nd or 28th pick and maybe the 3rd round pick in order to get high enough to grab McKelvin. Simple. I’m also not putting down Michael Jenkins. Everyone had him ranked in the top 3 if not the top 2 corners coming out.

2. With the 22nd overall pick you’re still in position to grab Felix Jones IF you want him. Nothing against Jones but I think Chris Johnson from ECU would be a better fit. I know he played at Conference USA and is a bit small but he’s blazing fast and is another option as a kick returner.

Now of the first 2 picks that we got I think anyone would agree they’re both solid, "safe" picks. I’m of the belief that safe doesn’t always bring home the bacon. Think about it. Wouldn’t we all be a little more excited if the first 2 picks were McKelvin and Johnson? I know I would.

The 2nd round pick of a tight end that nobody outside the state of Texas has even heard of is beyond me. I read it was a move to replace Fasano. Well, Fasano should have never been traded to begin with. He was a solid backup tight end and was worth a 4th round pick all by himself. Adding Akin Ayodele to the trade made it ludicrous. Back to Martellus Bennett. Who knows. He has good size and is apparently athletic considering he played basketball. I have a theory though. Bare with me here. What if this kid is some kind of project? He played defensive end on a few occasions. Maybe he could be molded into a Julius Peppers kind of player? Maybe my theory is a bit of a stretch plus who gives up a 2nd round pick for a project? Anyway, I don’t honestly know enough about the guy to give an honest opinion.

I would say we should’ve gone after a receiver in the 2nd but by the time our pick came up, all the obvious options at receiver were gone.

Tashard Choice is one to keep an eye on in my opinion. He could be a sleeper at 4th round. He sure looks pretty good on film anyway. It does add depth at RB which is never a bad thing.

The rest of the draft is a crap shoot and I won’t pretend to know anything about these guys. I think what soured me the most was the week leading to the draft. I didn’t like the Pacman deal and I was furious over the trade with Miami. That being said, I didn’t go into draft day in the best of spirits anyway.

Fortunately the Cowboys didn’t really need that much going into the draft and I personally think this team could win the Super Bowl this year even without a single pick.

My grade for this year’s draft.

Barber? Jones? McFadden? Who’s Going? Who’s Staying? Who’s Coming?

Originally, I had planned to write this blog on why I think we should go ahead and trade Julius Jones and keep Marion Barber. I have thought for the most of the season that Barber is the future in the Cowboys backfield. While Jones is a good back and can certainly be the lead man in another offense, I think he has seen the writing on the wall in Dallas, and realizes that he is going to be relegated to a supporting role for Barber. Because of this, I think Jones slacked off this season. When he gets the chance to carry the ball, he spends his time dancing around the backfield, waiting for a hole to open up. Barber, on the other hand, tends to make a hole if one isn’t readily available.

My reasoning here is, that Julius Jones, while a talented and hard worker, has lost heart, due to his realization that Barber is now perceived as the premier back. Julius knows that he can be the top back in many other offensive schemes, just not here with the Cowboys. Therefore, I was going to argue that we should get a contract on Barber and lock him in long term and let Jones go with our best wishes since I don’t think we can keep both.

Then – from stage left, enters Darren McFadden of Arkansas. The rumors are flying that Jerry Jones wants McFadden and wants him badly. Miami, of course, would have the first shot at McFadden (or anyone) due to having the first round draft pick this coming year. As we all know, we have already had a mass exodus of coaches from Dallas to Miami to join the Big Tuna. In thinking about this, it seems that Jerry Jones has been very cooperative in this process, and has allowed these guys to leave without much effort to keep them. In addition, it is also rumored that Miami wants Barber.  Could there be a deal in the works to let assistant coaches go without a whimper, while also tossing Barber into the mix at some point in order for the Cowboys to get their hands on that first round draft pick?

To be honest, I have no idea. All I know are the rumors I hear on the sports shows and the other blogs and fan sites I read. I love Barber and don’t want to see him go. However, I loved Herschel Walker and thought his trade was one of the most stupid things I had ever seen – at the time it happened. Of course, I realized later, that “The Trade” as it would come to be known, was a brilliant coup on the part of Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson to lay the foundation for a dynasty, while Minnesota ended up feeling like they had bought a huge “lemon” from the shadiest used car dealer in town. Ultimately, the final results of “The Trade” brought some now familiar names to the Boys – Emmitt Smith, Russell Maryland, Kevin Smith, Darren Woodson, and Clayton Holmes.  For Minnesota, the results brought – relative obscurity.

My thoughts here are this, I know Jerry Jones is a smart business man. He knows how to cut a deal, and has proven that time and again in the past. I admit that I have thought him crazy at times in the past and then later, I was proven wrong when the impact of these deals have been brought to light. Jones obviously has some neurons and synapses firing in his head that don’t work so well in my noggin. But please, let’s not make the mistake Minnesota did – thinking they were one back away from a championship, they sold their soul (and their supporting cast) to get him.

Again, I love Barber and think he may be the toughest back out there. McFadden is, without a doubt, extremely talented, yet unproven in the NFL. Barber has already proven himself with the Cowboys. Aren’t there other possible ways of getting McFadden without giving up Barber? Is all this just unfounded rumor with no basis in reality? Many have said so. They say there’s no way Jones will let Barber go. It’s a given that Jerry Jones will sign him. I thought so too, but why hasn’t he done so yet? What’s the hold up? As a restricted free agent, my understanding is that you simply have to tender him an offer to lock him in, but this, as of yet, hasn’t happened.

For the most part, in this blog, I am just thinking out loud. I certainly don’t pretend to be an expert – just a devoted fan trying to figure out what’s going on. What do you, the readers think? Please feel free to share your thoughts with me. Is all this a possibility? Am I nuts? Hit me back. Let me know what you think.

Adding Fuel To The Fire

As with any group of people or team, you mess with one, you have messed with them all. The Cowboys are no different and they are not a team you want to add fuel to their fire! I mean, they are ON FIRE already! Kitna needs to know one thing, "This is not last years team!" They have had time to get comfortable with one another and they ARE a powerful force. NO DOUBT!

Now, I like Kitna. As a matter of fact, he was my fantasy QB pick second only to my ultimate favorite, Romo. Kitna should be concerned about his own team, personal stats and the upcoming game against the Big Bad Cowboys! Kitna has let me down as a fantasy football player. While he is throwing at a rate that puts him in the 10th spot in the league, his team needs help with the run. The Kittens won’t be able to run on the Cowboys and I don’t recommend that they try many of the passes in their current game plan. The Cowboys WILL snatch those right out of the sky!

As a fantasy player, I find myself scrambling for a decent QB to get me through this week. I can’t afford a loss right now and the Cowboys will stop the kitty-cats! Kitna’s fantasy points have been low but against the Cowboys, he doesn’t stand a fantasy chance! While the stats between these two teams do not sound promising, us Cowboy Fans know one thing FOR SURE: this is not the same Cowboy team as last season and ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!!

The Cowboys are 11-10 all-time against Detroit, though the Lions have won nine of the past 14 . . .  Since 2001 Detroit has blocked 20 kicks, including 14 field goals, most in the league. Rogers is responsible for 11 of those blocks . . . The Cowboys own just a 4-8 record playing at Detroit . . . While the Cowboys come into the game with the eighth-ranked rushing offense, averaging 121.4 yards a game, the Lions enter dead last with their 77.2 average.

I don’t know how many times I can say this in one blog but I will say it again….

This is clearly a team of winners! This is a team of players that eat, drink, sleep and play the game. A team, that, on their days off, they WANT to be at work! Now, who wants to WORK on their day off? Give me a day off and see how quick I can disappear off the planet!! HA! YA know!?

Cowboys win this road game 31-20.  GO COWBOYS!!

On a side note, I would like to send a shout out to the Steelers!! Go Steelers! Beat New England!! My husband disagrees with me on this one. He wants New England to be undefeated when we meet them again later this year. Not me! I want to see the Steelers go buck wild on them! I don’t believe the Jets, Miami or the Giants can beat New England but I think the Steelers can AND WILL make that happen! I will be watching and cheering them on! I wanted the Ravens to do it and they were SOOO CLOSE! That was a great game from start to finish! To be honest, I don’t like the Steelers but my dislike for New England is greater. Nothing would please me more than to see the Steelers spank the Patriots!

Also, in case you missed it, you can see my slideshow from the GB @ Dallas game by clicking here! I had a BLAST at that game and I can hardly wait for the final season home game against Philly! I don’t believe that will be the last time I get to share pictures from the game with you. I must have been a good girl this year because Santa gave me my Christmas gift early: TICKETS TO THE PLAY-OFFS AT TEXAS STADIUM!! Yeah, baby!! Take me to the Play-Offs, Cowboys!! You were the only thing on my Christmas wish-list!

1.) No Coal 2.) Tickets to the Play-offs 3.) Cowboys help me be able to use those tickets 4.) Cowboys are NFC Champs 5.) Cowboys win the Super Bowl!!

That isn’t asking for much! hehehe!!

I hope you enjoy the slideshow! Remember comments are always welcome! Don’t forget to make your predictions and set your fantasy teams early! There is a game on Thursday! Good luck to you all and…
