HELP! True Blue Fan Stuck in Bear Country…

I have been a Cowboys fan since the late 70’s early 80’s. Unfortunately I am stuck in Illinois, an hour and half away from Chicago, in a little town of about 15,000 people. So needless to say most of the fans here are Chicago Bears fans. Some of my best friends are major Bears fans. Everywhere I look I see that annoying Bears head.

I drive around in a yellow truck. So I stand out. But my truck is decked out in Cowboys emblems – steering wheel cover, mats, a big true blue sticker on the back.

The offseason has been very trying this year. I had to hear all the crap about T.O. and then listen to the talk about Jay Cutler. OK, they finally have a decent QB but they will still stink. HA. Anyway this is my first and I hope many blogs about the Cowboys.

OK lets talk about the Cowboys and T.O. since I mentioned that. I was a little upset that they released him. With all the injuries to everyone last year, I don’t think the offense had time to click. Roy Williams was hurting, Tony was hurting but I don’t think would really admit it. I would have loved to see what the offense would have brought this year. Tony, T.O., Williams, Witten, Barber, and Jones. I would just had to say WOW. I know T.O. would have complained about the ball not coming his way, but we will never know what would happened.

Now lets really see if getting rid of T.O. was actually a move to make the team “Romo-friendly”. What exactly is “Romo-friendly” anyway? Oh well, we will see.

I bleed Blue and Silver throughout my veins. I have converted my fiancee also. I have a little one on the way too. Another Cowboys fan in this Bear town. I’m getting the numbers up. Ha Ha. Thanks for reading.

Cowboy Bill’s End Of Season Rant

I’ve had trouble all season coming up with positive things to say. Bringing doom and gloom isn’t fun for anyone. I’ve noticed that most posts on this site have some sort of positive spin by most of the writers. I try to follow suit. But I couldn’t. I was so concerned with being labeled as a “hater” that I let virtually the whole season go by with nothing to say other than a few comments on other writers’ posts. Well now it is time for me to vent.

The phrase I’m so sick of hearing-especially from Tony Romo- is “It is what it is”. What that actually means is you know the answer and you’re not man enough to say it. You’re not man enough to say you’re struggling under the pressure. You’re not man enough to say it was your fault the team lost that week. But all we get is “Turnovers are part of the game” or “Give (enter team name here) credit”. That’s crap. Total and complete crap. It’s PR spin that I aint buying.

Terrell Owens needs to just shut the hell up and play football. Period. Maybe some things he says is true. But handle your problems internally, as a team. Reporters are looking for a story. He never fails in delivering the story. He’s an incredible athlete with serious personality flaws. He’s far too inconsistent to be pointing the finger at anybody. When he’s on his game there is no better. Unfortunately, those times are getting few and far between. Maybe his age is catching up with him.

Signing Adam Jones was the second biggest blunder of 2008. This guy looked lost from the beginning. He covers about half the time and has been a disaster on special teams. Whatever he “had” at Tennessee is gone. Long gone. The only thing that’s left is off-the-field issues that a team like this does not need. Send him packing. I beg of you.

The biggest blunder was signing WR Roy Williams. So far this guy has brought nothing to the table. The chemistry was lost when Romo came back from injury and had a new personality to figure out. Not to mention Williams is a horrible route runner and is afraid to get hit. We had great chemistry with Owens, Crayton and Austin. Williams is the odd man out and history will prove that.

“They had a good game plan”… “It took us until the 3rd quarter to figure it out”… “The defenses have figured out what we’re doing”. These are not direct quotes but close enough and are all BS. The Cowboys’ offense of the 90’s was very predictable. Difference is, even when defenses KNEW what was coming they couldn’t stop it. It’s all about execution.  Plain and simple.

Wade Phillips says he’s going to put together a plan. Can’t wait. A plan. Wow. Well, Wade, PLAN on kissing your job goodbye if your PLAN fails. How bout fining Romo $10K for every interception? Or fine T.O. when he decides to cry to Deion Sanders, on national TV, before a big game? Or fine your coaches for not having an effective PLAN to begin with! Fine Flozell and Colombo for false starts every freaking game! Fine DB’s for blown coverage. Fine WR’s for blown routes. Fine Folk when he kicks it out of bounds! DO SOMETHING!  ANYTHING! I’M SICK OF THIS HORSE CRAP YOU’RE FEEDING US FANS!

Stop talking. Stop making excuses. Fix this. Fix it now. We deserve better. A guy on the radio said it best. “Cowboys fans are paying for fillet mignon but what they’re getting is Hamburger Helper”. Enough said. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go take some more Tums.

Anyone there?

Heya Cowboy Fans out there! How is Everyone doing out there? Well if your anywhere near where I am, then your probably not doing very well. So it seems as if StarStruck has become a little speechless after yesterday’s decimation of our beloved Cowboys. I haven’t seen a butt whoopin that bad since the Boys whooped on the Bills in Super Bowl 27. Everything started off great. Marched right down the field, T.O. got a reception, Barber was Barbarianing the Rams Defense and Brad Johnson looked 15 years younger. Then came 55:00 minutes of the worst Cowboys football this decade.

Speechless, really speechless. Thats the only way I could explain what happened yesterday. We were utterly dominated for 55:00 minutes. And then when we did get something going, we did something to shoot ourselves in the foot. Wade Phillips has done a really POOR job of getting this team ready to play. We have been pushed around and dominated for 3 weeks straight. This team seems soft and docile. Just like the coach. I even heard some TV broadcasters call the Cowboys the Dallas Cupcakes due to the unphysical and unemotional way they played. The only guy that deserved his paycheck yesterday was Demarcus Ware. The guy is a beast!! Marion Barber played good as well but he had a costly fumble early in the game.

I hate to say this guys but its becoming very obvious and apparent whats wrong with this team. We have no REAL leaders on this team. No one on this team that calls people out when they play like crap. We dont have that Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin type player on this team. We have a bunch of guys that just hang their heads when they get punched in the mouth. I remember during the Superbowl heydays how both Michael and Troy would be berating players on the Cowboy sidelines when they were playing poorly. It was unnacceptable and thats whats missing from this team. Terrell Owens has tried to repeatedly take this position on this team but all it does is bring him controversy from some fans and the media. There is T.O. becoming T.O. again. That is total B.S. and for any real Cowboy fans to think that is ludicrous. T.O. has the right idea but I just don’t think guys on this team respect him as a vocal leader due to his past.

This coming week against the Bucs is the season folks. I know it’s Week 8 and it’s early and everything but this is the breaking point. The guys on this team need to do alot of soul searching this week and fulfill the potential that comes with playing for the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry Jones even called out his team after yesterdays game and called it one of the worst losses in his tenure as Cowboys owner. Yesterday’s game brought back memories for me of the Chan Gaily/Dave Campo eras. That bad……. Anyways, I will be at the Boys and Bucs game this weekend. I have been to 6 Dallas Cowboys home games in my life. They have never lost any of the games I have ever been to. So maybe the boys need me this weekend. :O) I am coming guys. Give me some pads and a helmet and I will give it my all. Yeah right, maybe in some Disney movie. Anyways guys, I know hope is bleak but I know there is still time to turn it around. I will bet the farm that Tony Romo plays. If I ever see a Brad Johnson pass again it will be too soon. That guy was under throwing, over throwing and just plain throwing some ugly ducklings yesterday. The back-up QB postion needs to be addressed and it need to be addressed soon. Brad Johnson is no where near the answer.

So keep your chin up Cowboy fans. I will be there this weekend. I am on my way to save the Boys season. So wish me luck, cause lately it seems like we are gonna really need it.
