Emmitt Smith’s place in Canton is now complete

Class…It’s the one word that has always described Emmitt Smith on the field as well as off the field.

Emmitt Smith stood at the podium as the crowd gave him a long standing ovation. Then Emmitt Smith did what he had done his entire career. He showed class as he thanked everyone that got him to the Hall of Fame. It wasn’t about him at all on his night. He thanked the Cowboys organization, his coaches, his teammates, his family and the fans all around the world.

It’s been a long five years since Emmitt Smith retired from the NFL. Watching Emmitt Smith on that stage was one of my greatest moments since becoming a Dallas Cowboys fan. He made us fans proud when he played the game and he continued to make us proud as he gave his speech. Including the fans in his speech was a fantastic thing to hear from him. The smile on my face was from ear to ear.

When Emmitt Smith broke the All-Time rushing record in 2002 the thing that always stood out to me was the special moment that he shared with Daryl Johnston. It was a touching moment as Emmitt Smith broke down and thanked Daryl Johnston for everything he had done for him. Then tonight as Emmitt Smith was thanking Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin the crowd started to chant “Moose”. Then once again like in 2002 the tears started to flow on the face of Emmitt Smith. He asked Daryl Johnston to stand and thanked him from the bottom of his heart for everything he had done for him. It brought tears to my eyes in 2002 and it brought tears to my eyes tonight.

Emmitt Smith is now a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Right  where he belongs because of the kind of player he was and also because of the kind of person he is. He made the night about everyone around him and not about himself. I am so  proud to be able to say that I watched his entire career and loved every minute of it. I’m also proud to say that I had the pleasure of meeting Emmitt Smith back in 1993 and 1994. He signed my Emmitt Smith jersey not once, but twice for me and it will always be my most prized possession. Congratulations Emmitt Smith and thank you for being such a class act. You are most deserving of your place in Canton.

Wish Upon The Cowboy’s Star

Star light, star bright, the Cowboy’s Star I see tonight, wish I may, wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight. On the eve of another NFL season, I sit and stare at the most beautiful star known to man. This star however is not shining brightly in the sky above, but rather on the sleeve of a #16 Vinny Testaverde (quit laughing) practice jersey I have as part of my Cowboys memorabilia collection. As I send the wish off on it’s way, (I can’t tell you exactly what it was or it wont come true, but every Dallas Cowboys fan probably has a similar one as the new season approaches) I can feel the excitement continue to build, not just for the Cowboys but for football in general.

I need something fresh, something new to help cleanse the memory and sting of last season, especially how it ended so painfully to one of our most hated rivals, the Eagles. This year I am trying to keep my expectations to a minimum, unlike last year where I pretty much handed Dallas the Superbowl trophy before the season even started.

This season already has a different feeling to it, I think most of you know what I am talking about. Not sure what it is yet, but it is different, and I think for the better. T.O. is gone, Roy Williams the receiver is the number one man now in his place, while Roy Williams the safety is now a Bengal. Its not the lineup differences that fuel the feelings of change necessarily, but there is certainly something I feel I cant quite put my finger on.

Maybe its the quiet urgency that surrounds the Dallas Cowboys, still “Americas Team” for sure, but with such disappointments the last few years I think everyone is a bit stymied on their feelings. So I sit and reminisce about the glory days, hurt about the ones that got away and look forward to the ones still to come.

Now for all you Die Hard fans of the Dallas Cowboys, take this quick moment to Wish Upon the Cowboys Star. Make it a good one, and lets hope it brings success to our boys, and a trophy back to where it belongs.

Thank You Kelly For Star Struck!!!!

" In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth. ………………………..On the 7th day God created the Dallas Cowboys and on the 8th, God created Kelly and LoneStarStruck.com for all Dallas Cowboy fans on Earth."

Ok maybe I am taking this way out of line and we all know Kelly isn’t over 2,000 years old, , but I just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to Kelly here with this article. It takes a really great person and FAN or FAN-atic to do what she does. She started this here website for the enjoyment of Dallas Cowboy fans everywhere, free of charge. Running a website of this magnitude isn’t easy folks. It’s alot of arduous work to do what she does, plus she makes the BEST graphics out there for Dallas Cowboy fans everywhere. I have seen her Graphics all over Myspace with those distinguishing S*S logos attached to them.

I am just amazed how Kelly has time to do all of this considering Kelly has a full-time job and is a single mom just trying to make ends meet. I just wish the Dallas Cowboys organization , (You listening Jerry Jones!!!) knew how much work, effort and dedication you truly put in and day out Kelly for the Dallas Cowboys and thier fans and would somehow awknowledge you in someway because you really deserve that at the very least. You have never asked for anything from us in return and again, and I know I speak for the rest of the StarStruck Writers and Staffers that we just want to say Thank You Kelly. You truly are and epitomize in every word of the sense what a TRUE Dallas Cowboys fan is and should be. I just hope I am still on the staff when this thing not only goes nationally but on a global scale as well cause it’s gonna happen.  So again Kelly, and I know I can’t say it enough, THANK YOU!!!!!  FREDOOCH
