We’ve Got A New Attitude To Go With Our New Look!

So what do you guys think of the new digs? Last week I made the decision that I wanted a change. I felt I needed to put focus back on the reason I began this website back in 2006. When “Star Struck” was born it was all about Cowboys graphics. I used my graphic design talent to make visual art representing the team I have loved all my life.  I was finally giving back. It felt good, it was exciting. But somehow over the years this website became more of a traditional blog and while that’s great, it’s not me.

I’m a creative and visual artist. I get an urge to write when something sparks my attention and I feel passionate about it, but for the most part I could just create graphics all day long – that’s my passion.

I want to get back to creating “Cowboys Graphic Delights” for my friends, my fans and all of the followers of Lone Star Struck. Back when MySpace was booming, I could pump out dozens of new graphics a week. Then as MySpace fell, I let myself fall. Well I’m back and standing tall and proud. I am committing to posting a new visual delight daily.

We will still continue to have Cowboys posts as well as other new features that we will introduce in the coming days. The Dallas Cowboys have a rich history in its 50 years of existence and we will have a full section of history and flashbacks for your pleasure. We will also feature LSS Exclusives such as book reviews, interviews, giveaways and contests. In addition, we are inviting you to be a part of our community here. Our new photo galleries and Fan Shots section will allow you to share your experiences with other fans across the nation.

As you can tell we are very excited about the new changes here at lonestarstruck.com. The future is bright. And if I may, how great do our Cowboys look for this season?! It’s the perfect time to get a new outlook.

For my first Graphic Delight, I present our first ever Lone Star Struck wallpaper. Dedicated to the Dallas Cowboys 50 years of football. Enjoy and I will see you back here tomorrow with a new daily dose of Cowboys fun!

NFL Analyst Vic Carucci has the Cowboys winning the division:

The case for the Cowboys: They should be even stronger than the team that won the division in 2009. Tony Romo continues to make strides as a top-notch quarterback. He’s more mature and focused, and was able to blossom last season as the unquestioned leader of the team. Much of the offseason discussion has dealt with the expected game-breaking complement that first-round pick Dez Bryant will provide established receiving star Miles Austin and tight end Jason Witten. But the Cowboys have much more than an explosive passing attack. Their running game is among the best in the league and they have a championship-caliber defense.

Ex- Cowboy Flozell Adams worked out with the Steelers yesterday. The Steelers lost their starting right tackle Willie Colon after he suffered an Achilles injury on Monday. However there is no deal and according to NFL.com:

The Steelers got the impression Adams is not ready to make a decision, and money could be an issue as well. Adams, who was scheduled to earn over $7 million with Dallas prior to his release, is looking to earn $4 million for 2010, according to the source. The Steelers were hesitant to go that high.

Umm, Flozell give it up buddy you aren’t worth the big bucks anymore.

Admitting Depression Is The First Step To Recovery

Well after what has seemed to be an eternity, I have decided to crawl out of my off-season hole and get back into the real world. I apologize to my co-writers and to our Lone Star Struck fans for not blogging about our Cowboys. Ever since that loss to the Vikings, I have been in, what I did not want to believe, a depressed state of mind. I have finally realized that loss affected me more than I thought it did. I said right after the loss, just like most of us did, its ok we got our first playoff win in 12 years. We had a great season and this season was a step forward. While all of that is true, that loss devastated me. Not because it was such a great season and I know we have the team to go all the way, but because the way we lost that game.

We were the better team going into that game and EVERYONE knew it. The Cowboys were FINALLY getting the credit they deserved. A stout defense, an offensive line that protected and made holes for 3 GREAT running backs. A TRUE CONTENDER! I do not know what happened that dreadful day but I am now admitting it is eating me apart from the inside out. That is all I can think about and the only way to get back to myself is to write about it.

As for the upcoming season. Free agency has just started and what an active season it is. The SECOND and maybe even third best defensive end in the league, Julius Peppers, has gone to Chicago. Of course the first being Demarcus Ware and second Anthony Spencer. Although I think we might all agree that Spencer needs a year or two more experience! With all the free agents out there and all the teams that need help in their areas, I have not heard much talk about the Cowboys needs. To me, that means we don’t have any real “needs”. We have what we need to take this team to the next level. We are a championship team.

Bengals WR Chris Henry Has Passed Away

On behalf of all of us here at Lone Star Struck we would like to express our sincerest condolences on the sudden passing of Chris Henry. Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris’ family and team at this difficult time.

The young wide receiver’s tragic death reminds us exactly how fragile life is. Henry leaves behind three young children.

CHARLOTTE, N.C.(AP)—Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry has died, one day after suffering serious injuries upon falling out of the back of a pickup truck in what authorities describe as a domestic dispute with his fiancee.

Police say Henry died at 6:36 a.m. Thursday. Henry was 26.

Away from the team because of a broken forearm, Henry was rushed to the hospital Wednesday after being found on a residential road. Police say a dispute began at a home about a half-mile away, and Henry jumped into the bed of the pickup truck as his fiancee was driving away from the residence.

Police said at some point when she was driving, Henry “came out of the back of the vehicle.”

Rest in Peace Chris.

Breaking News: DeMarcus Ware Carted Off the Field

With the game tied at 10 and 11 minutes left in the fourth quarter, DeMarcus Ware appeared to have suffered a neck injury. The game was delayed for 12 minutes while they tended to Ware on the field until finally carting him off.

As he left the field Ware could be seen giving a thumbs up to the crowd who cheered for him and gave their best wishes.

He was replaced in the lineup by Victor Butler.

We will give you more details as news filters in.

On behalf of everyone at Lone Star Struck our prayers go out to DeMarcus Ware for a speedy recovery.

UPDATE 5:53 p.m.: CBS Sports is reporting that DeMarcus Ware may have sprained his neck and is undergoing precautionary x-rays. They also reported that Ware had full movement. Needless to say this is good news.
