The Cowboys trimmed their preseason roster to an NFL-mandated 75 players on Tuesday by releasing rookie WR Julian Hawkins, placing rookie LB Brandon Williams (torn ACL) on injured reserve and placing rookie OL Robert Brewster (torn pectoral muscle) on the physically unable to perform list.
Nothing really unexpected or controversial there.
September 1 — Roster cutdown to maximum of 75 players.
September 5 — Roster cutdown to maximum of 53 players.
