Adams Fined, Barber Fine

For the second week in a row a Cowboy has been fined by the league for a penalty. Turns out that Cowboy is Flozell Adams. Surely you remember the tripping penalty, well Adams was fined $12,500 for sticking his foot out and tripping Justin Tuck in the second quarter, and also Osi Umenyiora in the fourth quarter. Tuck criticized Adams for the move that placed him on the sidelines.

Last week Adams was fined $5,000 for a hands to the face penalty. He plans to appeal the fine.

Hey, we wanted him to stop the false start penalties but not if it means he is going to get even bigger infractions.

Marion BarberMarion Barber practiced on Wednesday after an apparent injury to his quad during last Sunday’s game. Several media outlets believed Barber could miss the game Monday night but according to Barber,

“I’m good . . . I’m good today. If I’m good today, I’ll be good tomorrow and I’ll be good for Monday.”

“Just like a bad cramp. I’ve felt it before. It’s happened to me before. It’s sore. It felt real similar. But I’m treating it like I should. I’m feeling good.”

The Cowboys have an extra day since they are playing Monday and are not required to put out an injury update today. Luckily the Cowboys are deep at the running back position and Barber can share the load with Felix Jones and Tashard Choice.

The Cowboys posted this on their website,

RB Marion Barber – quad (9/20) – After his 35-yard run in the fourth quarter, Barber came up holding his left quad. He never returned to action Sunday night, and MRI results on Monday revealed a strained quad. Barber was dressed out Wednesday and took part in light individual drills during the brief media portion of practice. But because they don’t play until Monday, the Cowboys aren’t required to release an official injury report until Thursday, and head coach Wade Phillips was tight-lipped about Barber’s status. The starting back said he plans to play against Carolina, however. If not, or if he’s limited, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice will fill in.

Michael Irvin is OK

Today I was on the Cowboys website and could not belive this when I seen it and I thank god Irvin is ok.

Former Cowboys great Michael Irvin apparently avoided a dangerous situation at a redlight in North Dallas Monday night.

Irvin filed a police report stating a passenger in an adjacent vehicle flashed a gun after he rolled down his window. Recognizing the Hall of Fame recevier, the men instead began talking about the cowboys with Irvin and eventually drove away peacefully.

On his radio show Wednesday (ESPN 103.3 FM) Irvin shrugged off speculation that the police report was merely a publicity stunt.

“I was a little bit worried – I was a lot bit worried – about what else was going to happen with those guys, what else they were doing,” Irvin said. “The way they got back on the highway said to me, ‘Maybe we’ll find somebody else since we couldn’t do that there.’ So yeah, I went ahead with it (the report).

“I don’t have another strike to give. So trust me, I wouldn’t fill out a false police report.”

Who could have ever guessed that Irvin’s ball play on the field would eventually save him from some dangerous car-jackers who just happened to be Cowboys fans. I myself am very pleased that Irvin is ok and was able to come away from this situation unharmed.

I love me some Cowboys…

And I love THE FANS!!

I had a fantastic weekend! I hope you did, too! The big W was my icing for the cake! For me, the weekend started Saturday night. As Ike moved out of the Metroplex, I was on the move trying to find THE FANS! Not just any group of fans but people many of you know that blew in just before Ike did! We got there as fast as we could for a meet and greet. After a while, we made our way to Hurricane Bar! What an awesome place! We had a blast there!

Saturday, we met in Grapevine at a sports bar called Cutie Pies. We stayed ALL DAY! When I left, they were STILL having a good time! We met up again Monday night for the fun at a tailgate. I’ll let the pictures tell the story… There are no words to describe how much fun we had and how many great people we met!

To the fans – YOU GUYS BROUGHT IT!! My ears are STILL ringing and my voice is officially GONE. I may not see it again for two weeks and it was SO WORTH IT. I would do it all again in a split minute… just not today. When you don’t drink all weekend but end it feeling hung over, you know you did it right!!

To Mosh & the CNS Crew – You guys SO TOTALLY rock! I am so glad I got to meet you and if you’re ever back in my neck of the woods, HIT ME UP! I had THE BEST time with you & I’m looking forward to doing it again! Thank you SO MUCH for including me in the fun! I hope Dallas was good to you and you made it home safe! Keep in touch, okay?

Barber And Newman Signings Generate Much Needed Enthusiasm

Monday night I was on the phone with my brother, John who was asking me why Marion Barber wasn’t reporting to minicamps or working out with the team. I had theories. I had opinions. I thought maybe it was Barber’s agent Drew Rosenhaus’ idea. Maybe he was trying to make Jerry Jones nervous. "Agents are always trying to get that little extra just so they, themselves can get paid", I complained. Then I blamed Jerry Jones. "Jones is going to do the same thing he did last year with Romo." Then I blamed Barber. "Barber has to understand he’s still somewhat unproven as a starter and should’ve taken the first offer." I grumbled.

I’m pretty sure I’m not the only Cowboys fan that’s been frustrated over the last couple months. The signing of Pacman Jones and what some considered a questionable draft has had me pretty bummed out. I haven’t been able to think of anything positive to write about. I’d sit down to write something and go blank. Nothing was happening. Barber wasn’t signed. Dammit.

All that changed this week. We all know about the signings of Barber and Newman Tuesday so I won’t bore you with what you already know. This was huge by anyone’s standards.

Today I sit here with a big ass smile on my face. This team is headed to the Super Bowl people! Lock it in. Place your bets. Call your friends. Talk trash. Print the shirts. Order the tickets.

I can’t speak for everyone but I can say that this was the "shot in the arm" that I needed to get me pumped for the 2008 season. Thank you Jerry Jones for taking care of business. You eased the minds of countless Cowboys fans across the nation.

Now if you’ll excuse me I have to to my "Ric Flair strut across the room, walk out on my back deck and "WOOOOOOOOOO!" at the top of my voice.

Did I mention the Dallas Cowboys are going to go to the Super Bowl this year?

NFL Star Sean Taylor Loses Fight For Life

Washington Redskin safety Sean Taylor passed away early this morning after injuries suffered from a gunshot wound. The 24-year old Pro football player was shot at home during an apparent armed burglary. The gunshot was fired at his leg and damged his femoral artery causing significant blood loss. Taylor had been airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL early Monday.

At one point Monday night there was hope after Taylor squeezed a nurse’s hand. However, he never regained consciousness. Doctors aren’t sure how he squeezed the hand, some say he may have been trying to say goodbye.

Taylor’s girlfriend and 1-year old daughter were also in the house at the time of the shooting, fortunately neither were hurt.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this troubled time. May he find peace with the Lord.
