They “Talk At Night”

In just over a month, “The Triplets” will be reunited in Canton, OH.

John Madden is convinced that the busts “talk at night.”  What will this trio talk about?  This fan can imagine plenty of teasing and ribbing going on.  Will Irvin and Aikman forever tease Smith for not knowing what the 1-15 season felt like?  Maybe, Smith and Irvin will forever tease Aikman for his singing abilities?  What about that fur coat Irvin?

I can also imagine the great stories of superstardom. Emmitt’s separated shoulder against the Giants.  Aikman winning; however, not even remembering the NFC Championship game. The rubber-man catch and touchdown by Irvin in Pasadena.  The list could go on and on.

Then there are the “what if” questions that will be ever present; however, seldom a word spoken.  What if the ’94 Championship game had been at Texas Stadium?  What if Jimmy had never left?  What if Irvin had just landed a bit differently that day?  What if?  What if?  What if?  These too can go on and on.

No matter the conversation when the lights go down in the corridors of Canton, this trio will now forever add the “Hall of Famer” tag to their “Triplets” moniker.

Let’s Enjoy Austin Without All the Comparisons

StarStruck GraphicsMiles Austin definitely stole the spotlight on Sunday. He did more than his share, helping the Cowboys trounce the Falcons.

However, one thing is really bugging me. I’ve heard people say he’s the new Michael Irvin, I even read an article claiming he is T.O. with smile.

Give Miles Austin his credit for what he has worked hard to accomplish. There is not much about Miles that reminds me of Irvin or Owens. In fact, not to belittle either of those superstars, but Austin did something they never did… and he did it as a #2 receiver. He currently holds the franchise record for receiving yards in a single game. Of course Irvin and Owens hold their own franchise records. Which essentially proves my point even further.

I know people are just excited and happy about the win and the hope that Austin brings for the Cowboys and I love it! I love when the fans get pumped up and enthusiastic.

I’m sure Miles would feel honored to be compared to such great professional players, but I’d also bet he would be the first to tell you he is nothing like them.

Forget the three different personalities and egos, their playing styles are nothing alike. Not to mention, you may be getting a little bit ahead of yourselves.

There’s nothing wrong with being compared to the likeness of football greats, so maybe I am overreacting.

Either way great work Miles keep it up, we are very proud of you!

Oh yeah, and for the record I never got into the whole “The New Triplets” thing with Romo, Owens and Barber a few years ago. We need to make new memories and dynasties. Embrace the past and learn from it, but don’t try to recreate it, it never works out right.

Who Should Be In the Ring of Honor Next???

I have tried to debate this for awhile now with people that I know, but can’t seem to get anyone to bite back. Maybe now is the time. Who should Jerry Jones put in the Ring of Honor in the new stadium? It has been a long time since the Triplets where inducted into it. I have my opinions, which I don’t think a lot of people will agree on, but it is my opinion. I will throw out a few names for you and see if you agree.

My first choice is Danny White. Yes, I know he never took the team to the Super Bowl but he had some really big shoes to fill with the retiring Roger Staubach. He did take them to some Championship games but never really over the hump. He also played another role in punting for the Cowboys. I think he has been given a bad rap for not getting the boys the Super Bowl. But most people think, Danny will always but the butt of jokes for not being the QB that Roger was.

My second choice is Drew Pearson, the original 88. I kind of forgot about him but the Top Ten Cowboys List on NFL Network reminded me that he isn’t in the Ring of Honor. Who was Roger’s go-to guy? Drew. Who made the most famous Hail Mary catch? Drew. When Roger needed some yardage good ole 88 was there. Shoot, I think he should be in the Hall of Fame. What a great talent he was.

Who would you choose for the Ring of Honor with the current roster? Tony Romo, Jason Witten, DeMarcus Ware? Who knows. Tony won’t if he doesn’t win it all, just like Danny. That’s why I hear some fans put Tony and Danny in the same sentence. Jason is a solid TE for the Boys. If he keeps playing the way he has it shouldn’t be a debate about that one. And then there is DeMarcus ‘Sack Master’ Ware. Out of the three he should be the next great who is put up around the ring of the stadium.

You could agree or disagree with some of my choices or have some of your own. But in the end we have had some great teams and players throughout the years. Enjoy the memories and the future seasons to come. And last but not least – How ’bout them Cowboys!!

We are # 1

One of the many things I love about the Cowboys is I am sure to get my money’s worth all year long! I enjoy this roller coaster ride of bye week vacations, spring training, trouble or… ? One of the things I love about YOU, the fans is your passion. I watch all the shows and surfed all the sites. I know what the media says about us and our team… We’re on the “Best Fans” top 10 list but well below where one might think.

As you know, I love fans. I talk to fans across the US regularly. Not just Cowboys fans but fans for every team and I know what they say, too! As far as I’m concerned, that opinion is the one that matters. WE – are #1 – just like our favorite team! We stick with our team year after year: DO OR DIE! It’s the thrill of victory on the edge of our seats constant drama and more that captivates us year after year.

In the real world, I spend most of my time motivating others to set and accomplish goals. One of the things I teach them is to keep records and review the records from when they had that kind of success. So, after work, I spent some time surfing and watching video from the days we enjoyed most. For me, that’s mostly the ’90s. I was fascinated by the team lead by what is now known as “The Triplets”.

No matter what your favorite era, it’s not easy to remember and want it again so much for so long. Knowing that you’ve come close, oh so very close… To be left with “Next year”

The difference between our favorite time and now?

We still do. No matter who your ‘All Time Favorite’ is or when they played – you still do. Your heart aches a little because that person no longer plays.  And here we are today, THIS season with the Cowboys: right here – right now.  Do we LOVE this team?

I dropped my beef with T.O. I even own a jersey now. I did not do it because he earned it or deserved it. It was not done for me because I was perfectly happy feeling the way I did about the whole situation. I let it go for the team.

What is going to get them through? What is going to bring this team together? Get them healthy? OUR LOVE!! OUR SUPPORT!! OUR VOICE!! It’s YOU Cowboys fans YOU!! You will be the motivation they need! GET LOUD MY PROUD COWBOYS FRIENDS!! GET LOUD!!!  I wanna see your STAR!! This website has some awesome graphics! That’s always a great start! It’s up to US to show them we care and we WANT IT FOR THEM!

It’s up to us to believe when it seems no one else will… Yes, I watch all the shows, vids and I read the articles. I know what they are saying and I know you know what I’m saying *wink*

Go Cowboys!
