Romo Spreads the Love As the Cowboys Win 38-17

Tony Romo and the Cowboys had an excellent outing at home against the Seahawks winning 38-17.

The defense and special teams looked outstanding and the offense used all of their weapons.

Touchdowns: Sam Hurd, Marion Barber, Roy Williams, Miles Austin, Patrick Crayton

Sacks: Keith Brooking, DeMarcus Ware, Bobby Carpenter

Patrick Crayton returned a punt for a touchdown for the second week in a row.

Outstanding play all around! How bout them Cowboys!

DoughboyCowboy’s Cowboy Round-Up

First off, Michael Irvin is on Dancing with the Stars. I was very excited about this. With his popularity and his moves from the football field, I think he is the man to beat. If he wins, next up is Troy. Go Playmaker of the Stars!

OK, now for the Cowboys… I don’t take too much into pre-season but it is nice to see the players get off the rust in a live game. Tony Romo looked good. His first series was off. But the way he moved the offense in his second series was great. Showing a little bit of what could be a great season, he spread the ball around and utilized all the weapons available to him.

Felix JonesAs soon as I seen Felix Jones run a few yards. I admit I said this out loud, “Felix I missed you”. The offensive will be awesome. This year I am really focusing on Witten and hoping he has a spectacular year. There is a hidden agenda with that one, more of that later.

The defense looked OK. While the 2nd and 3rd strings gave up a lot of points, the first team looked good. I am excited about Anthony Spencer and DeMarcus Ware. The opposition wont know where DeMarcus will be coming from. Look out for a top 5 defense.

It was nice to see Keon Lattimore get a few reps too. I think he is a sleeper for this team if he makes the full roster. Jesse Holley was also playing in a few plays too. It was nice to see number 16 running down the field. Sometimes players who are trying for a spot on the team don’t play that much. We’ll see if he completes the dream. I still think Hawkins should of made the team instead.

I am looking forward to this Friday’s game. I wont be able to see it here in Illinois, but it will be on NFL Network on Saturday. I want to see the inside of the new stadium. Look for a great season to come!

Each Monday I will talk about the Cowboys and what I think about the team. If anyone can think of a better title let me know. I am looking forward to a great Cowboys season! – DoughboyCowboy

Always A True Cowboys Fan

I know that today’s loss to the division rivals has everyone completely distraught. Honestly I am speechless, but I know that I should say something and give everyone a place to get things off their chests.

This hurts. After a record-breaking season filled with such promise and hope, the season comes crashing down. Someone had to lose, and you can argue many reasons why we were the ones that had to say goodbye. But I think rather than count the ‘ifs’, maybe we should look back at the season.

What a wonderful year. Its been a blast. Think about it. Look at Jason Witten, what a year he had. Remember the helmetless run! We could learn alot from that warrior. I guarantee he will hold his head high and not look back at the mistakes, but learn from them and move forward.

Terrell Owens had a wonderful year as well. Marion Barber had a hell of a year, and really a wonderful first half in his first game as a starter. We found a kicker we can finally trust. And we learned we have many offense weapons.

Take a look at the young defense we have. DeMarcus Ware, oh what a beast! Then you throw in Chris Canty and Bradie James, the future looks bright. These guys are only going to develop. Greg Ellis, the sack monster, had a shocking year and went home with an award he can be damn proud of. We have great things to look forward to in years to come.

I know that Tony Romo is going to take a lot of criticism. He’s now 0-2 in the postseason and some may question his abilities and his big contract. But I wont give up on him. It was his first year as a starter. He started off with a bang, and continued to break records and collect wins.

But somewhere in the last part of the season it began to dwindle down. I dont know why, I dont know how, but it did.

I truly believe he has a gift. If he can overcome this, he will be even better next year. What doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger.

This team has come a long way. Some may even call it a rebuilding year. A new head coach, many new staff members, a new quarterback…. the list goes on. I’m sure we will pick the season apart for weeks to come. But it won’t change the outcome.

The season ended today but our love for the greatest team in the country – America’s team, the Dallas Cowboys – did not end. Hold your head high, wear your colors proudly.

STAY TRUE TO THE SILVER AND BLUE!

God Bless,

From Romo to Owens, We’ve Come A Long Way

What a great feeling it is to be a Cowboys fan! Can you believe we are 9-1! We have many reasons to be happy, and very few to complain about. But I have a huge complaint I want to share with all of you. Where is the love? Where is the respect?

The Dallas Cowboys have won 9 of their last 10 games. They have more than proven what they can do, and done it with class. But everytime you turn on ESPN or check out news around the internet, they are being bashed. Excuses are being thrown out there, when in reality the Cowboys are definitely the team to beat in the NFC.

Tony Romo has been a blessing. He has come in every game and played his heart out. I won’t say he hasn’t made mistakes, but I dare you to try and give me a time when he didn’t get back up and make up for it. He plays with everything he has until the last second of every game. As for certain commentators who say, "Sure, who couldn’t succeed with the weapons he has on the field…". Well, I think we all know thats just not how it works. We had the same receiving corps last year, (pre-Tony Romo) and we did not have the same results. Romo is definitely proving game after game that he is one of the elite quarterbacks in the league today. And Cowboy fans, how exciting is that? It’s only his first year! We have alot to look forward to.

The player who deserves the most respect, is getting the least. Yes, I’m talking about Terrell Owens. In the offseason, I believe Owens promised us 20 touchdowns this season. Well right now he’s up to 12, it’s very possible he could go over 20. He also has 1,028 yards, averaging over 100 yards per game with 6 games left to play. So tell me, where is the love? I understand his past, and his ego and everything that has given him this reputation, but he is doing everything right this time around. He brings a fire to this team, he gets out there and gets his teammates pumped. I know you seen him on the sidelines after his touchdowns, he was fired up! T.O. keep doin’ whatcha doin’, we love ya man!

No matter what this team does, people will either love them or hate them. It’s always been that way, that will never change. My point is all about RESPECT. Keep on hating, it only makes play harder!

HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!

Injury Report: Week 1

Game Status:
Out:
LB Greg Ellis (Achilles)
WR Terry Glenn (Knee)

Questionable:
LB Kevin Burnett (Ankle)
CB Terence Newman (Foot)

Greg Ellis and Terry Glenn will not play Sunday, that much is for sure. Terence Newman and Kevin Burnett are both gametime decisions.

Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd need to step it up and show that they can cover for Terry Glenn’s absense. I believe Glenn will be missed but I also think the Cowboys other weapons are powerful and will fill the hole left by the injured wide receiver.

I hope that Newman can play, but at the same time I hope he’s ready to play. Playing with an unhealed injury can cause more damage than good. But then again they are saying he will have to play with this injury for the entire season. I think it depends on how much pain he can tolerate. With the release of veteran Aaron Glenn, Jacques Reeves will take Newman’s place.

I heard a player say that there is a difference in playing hurt and playing injured… I don’t know about that but as much as they get beat up on the field I imagine its gotta hurt even when you aren’t injured!
